I will start sharing my journey as a student in placement. I had three placements at YMCA Windy Woods in the Infants room, Chelsea Green Children’s Centre in Toddlers room, and YMCA Sir John MacDonald in Preschool room. Because of my experiences in the placement, I am confident that I will be a successful educator, and these strategies will help me prepare for my future job after college.

I am looking forward to practicing these skills and learning from the previous placements. Moreover, I am currently working on my applications in the child care centre. I am excited to see what the future holds for me and the impact I will have on the children.

I have chosen these artifacts: the Elected official letter, which I have posted in this section. I chose it because I like the topic we discussed in our letter. Through our individual experiences, we develop an idea to advocate for maintaining high-quality education across Ontario and to prioritize hiring those who have undergone training in Early Childhood Education.

Furthermore, understanding the importance of maintaining and strengthening the ECE workforce in the sector would be a key factor in developing and sustaining high-quality education. And I wanted to be an advocate for it because I wanted to see people valuing ECE not just as babysitting but as a profession that educates children and provides quality learning that meets the needs of these children.

It demonstrates my knowledge and understanding of the importance of self-regulation for children, as we studied it in the course, and how important it is for educators to understand self-regulation, as we can share these ideas and knowledge with families.

In addition, it highlights the importance of trust, communication, and collaboration among educators in providing quality learning.

Furthermore, it is important that the knowledge you have be shared with others who are willing to learn from your experiences. I have added my community of practice in this section, as it discusses the importance of sharing ideas and learning experiences to become a successful and effective educator.

Reflection:

I added these artifacts and a PowerPoint to this section, as it discusses research, importance, and professional learning. My group decided to research Erik Erikson’s understanding of child development and how his experiences influence his understanding of child learning.

In addition, I added some artifacts in this section that interest me and have impacted me as I read, watch, and reflect on them. I have realized that if only these children from residential schools were given the chance to live the life they wanted, they would be advocates of peace in the country. I have learned that we need to become more efficient and understanding of each child’s upbringing, as they come from different families, cultures, and ways of life.

Furthermore, we should not limit our knowledge and understanding of children; instead, we should challenge ourselves to understand every detail of their experiences.

I chose these artifacts and added them to this section because they give me insight into the importance of knowledge of health, regulations, and practices. These articles were mentioned in the lessons, just like the Canadian Food Guide.

For me, this is important to understand and learn because it is a policy that needs to be followed to avoid risking children’s health, as we also want to maintain and address children’s health problems.

In addition, I added that kids have stress too, because it highlights that children are not bad for expressing these behaviours; instead, it should be understood that they are also experiencing the same emotions adults do, but the difference is that they do not know exactly how to express them.

Furthermore, it is mandated that educators receive training and know how to perform CPR properly. I added it to this section because, as educators, we are not only dealing with behaviours but also managing the lives of the little ones, and to be successful, we need training that benefits the sector.

Reflection

I have chosen these artifacts because they talk about the developmental stages of children from the previous course, as we were learning about the four developmental stages of children, which is an important lesson for me. After all, it highlights the stages of development, and it interests me more because understanding where these children are coming from is important. With a proper understanding of their development, I can plan and strategize activities that meet the needs of the children in my care.

Furthermore, I added the activity we made as a group from the previous course because it connects to emotions. We provided an activity that is connected to emotions and is helpful for the children to understand the emotions they feel. I am aware that it is hard for children to understand, and that the role of educators and grown-ups is to guide them.

Reflection

I chose these artifacts because they highlight the importance of understanding the curriculum. I have added my assignment, which includes the curriculum web that highlights the lessons and teaches me to become more creative in developing my own curriculum.

I was challenged to do it because it should be concise and easy to understand, and, as we conduct the observational debrief, it highlights the learning and observations from the activity for further growth and planning.

Furthermore, other articles discuss the stages and skills a child should develop. And in connection with the curriculum, these artifacts help educators understand the skills that have been met during the planned activity and guide them to stay on track with the children’s developmental skills.
