         <title>John D. Rockefeller </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In Richford,New York, John D. Rockefeller was born on July 8,1839, then&nbsp; he at the age of 14 he moved to Cleveland, Ohio. At the age of 16 he had his first real job in an office as an assistant bookkeeper for a Crocker also engaged in real estate, industrial properties, and banking. At age 20 thrived from his jobs and went his own way with a business partner, working as a commission merchant in hay meats, grains and either goods.&nbsp;<br><br>In the early 1860s Rockefeller sensed an opportunity in the oil business.In 1870, Rockefeller and his associates incorporated the Standard Oil Company. It immediately prospered, thanks to favorable economic/industry conditions and Rockefeller’s drive to streamline the company’s operations and keep margins high. With success came acquisitions, as Standard began buying out its competitors. With this making him the extremely wealthy and a huge monopoly.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Andrew Carnegie </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Andrew Carnegie was born on November 25, 1835, Dunfermline, Scotland. He moved to the United States at the age of 13 with his family.&nbsp; They settled in Allegheny, Pennsylvania, and Carnegie went to work in a factory, earning $1.20 a week. The next year he found a job as a telegraph messenger. He then took a job at the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1853.&nbsp; Through his experience, he learned about the railroad industry and about business in general.&nbsp;<br><br>He made investments while working for the railroad, making many wise choices. Then finding that his investments, especially those in oil, brought in substantial returns.By the next decade, most of Carnegie's time was dedicated to the steel industry. His business, which became known as the Carnegie Steel Company, revolutionized steel production in the United States.&nbsp; He sold his business to the United States Steel Corporation, started by legendary financier J.P. Morgan. The sale earned him more than $200 million. At the age of 65, Carnegie decided to spend the rest of his days helping others.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <title>Cornelis Vanderbilt</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A descendant of Dutch settlers who came to America in the mid-1600s, Cornelius Vanderbilt was born into humble circumstances on May 27, 1794, on Staten Island, New York.&nbsp; As a boy he worked&nbsp; with his father&nbsp; and attended school briefly. Eventually, he acquired a fleet of small boats and learned about ship design. In 1817, Vanderbilt went to work as a ferry captain for a wealthy businessman who owned a commercial steamboat service that operated between New Jersey and New York.&nbsp; This job helped him see how the steamship industry works.&nbsp;<br><br>In the late 1820s, he went into business on his own, building steamships and operating ferry lines around the New York region.&nbsp; In the 1860s, Vanderbilt focused more on the railroad industry.&nbsp; He gained control of various of railway lines operating between Chicago and New York and established an interregional railroad system.Vanderbilt was the driving force behind the construction of Manhattan’s Grand Central Depot, which opened in 1871. Vanderbilt died at age 82 on January 4, 1877, at his Manhattan home, he left the bulk of his fortune, estimated at more than $100 million, to his son William&nbsp;. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>J.P Morgan was born on April 17, 1837 in Hartford, Connecticut. He was an art collector,business leader, and a philanthropist.&nbsp; He&nbsp; later becomes on of the most famous financiers in business history. Owning a private banking company ,which later known as J.P. Morgan &amp; Co., one of the leading financial firms in the country.&nbsp; He was hailed as a master of finance at the time of his death, and continues to be considered one of the country's leading businessmen.<br><br>Morgan went into the family business and became one of the most famous financiers in history. After working for his father, he started his own private banking company in 1871. Which is known as  J.P. Morgan &amp; Co. The company&nbsp; was so powerful that even the U.S. government looked to the firm for help with the depression of 1895.&nbsp; Today Morgan is considered one of America's leading businessmen, and is credited helping to shape the nation into what it is today.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Charles Crocker </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Charles Crocker was born September 16, 1822 in Troy, New York. He was forced to quit school at a young age to help support his family . Him and his family moved to Indiana where he worked multiple jobs. After working many jobs he and his brothers migrated to California after gold was discovered there.There in Sacramento he opened up a store in 1852 and became extremely wealthy by 1854.&nbsp;<br><br>In 1861 Crocker joined fellow merchants Collis P. Huntington,Leland Stanford,and Mark Hopkins, in a new railway company, the Central Pacific . The Central Pacific was appointed to build the Western portion of first American Transcontinental railroad. He was in charge of construction,hiring men, and requirement, setting up campsites, and acting as paymaster and accountant.&nbsp; IN 1871 he became president of the Southern Pacific Railroad of California and in 1884 oversaw the new incorporation of Southern Pacific which absorbed the Central Pacific. Crocker also engaged in real estate, industrial properties, and banking. . In the end his death was estimated to be $40 million. </div>]]></description>
