W&L's Johnson Scholarship recognizes and rewards students on the basis of academic achievement, demonstrated leadership and integrity, and their potential to contribute to the intellectual and civic life of the W&L campus and the world at large in years to come.

Troy Larsen ’22 was a W&L Johnson Scholar and mathematics and classics major. His funded summer research on knot theory earned Troy a prestigious Goldwater Fellowship. He continues his research today in pursuing a doctorate in mathematics.

Scholarships are awarded to up to 44 incoming students each year (roughly 10% of the first-year class).

Johnson Scholarships cover tuition and fees, housing and food, and $10,000 in funding for a summer experience — a grand total of more than $83,000 per year. Students with additional financial need may also see their scholarship amount increased to cover additional costs of attendance, which may include textbooks and supplies, travel expenses, and technology costs.

Finalists for Johnson Scholarships participate in an on-campus competition and are notified in late March of their status. All costs associated with attending the competition will be paid by Washington and Lee University.

Scholarship, Stan Parker Memorial Scholarship, Larry France Memorial Scholarship, Rick

Students apply for the Coolidge Scholarship during their junior year of high school.

The third Tuesday in March was declared Bank Day in Virginia by the Virginia General Assembly in 1991. On this day, Virginia high school seniors learn about banking, financial services, career opportunities in the industry and the vital role banks play in their communities.

Founded in 1984, the foundation’s purpose is to provide college assistance to students from Virginia with an interest in golf. The VSGA-VIP Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. A portion of the proceeds from VSGA VIP Card sales goes towards funding scholarships. 2025-26 applications are now open!

Provides financial assistance to individuals attending an accredited technical school, college or university where the student/applicant’s learning is focused on building applications and studies in the area of building construction, building engineering and facility maintenance.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must:

• Currently reside in Virginia

• Be a graduating high school senior, have earned a GED, or be enrolled in an institution of higher learning as a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year student

The 22nd Annual Student of Integrity Scholarship Awards honor high school seniors from our 32-county service area who personify ethics through leadership, community service, and actions.

Students should assemble their application into a single PDF file ensuring that ALL attachments are included.  The pdf document should be no larger than 25 MB.  There are two methods of submitting the applications to me.  Students may email the completed application in pdf format to this email address by the deadline.  The second option is the send the hardcopy application via USPS or other delivery service such at FedEx.  In order to send hardcopy, applicants or their parents MUST email me at virginiajcisenatescholaraship@gmail.com for specific mailing instructions for hardcopy applications. Please see additional instructions at the Virginia JCI Senate website.  Emailed applications are not required but are appreciated.

Applications must be postmarked no later than January 12, 2026.

Two scholarships for college/university and one vocational scholarship will be awarded by the Virginia JCI Senate.  Winners are eligible to compete for additional scholarships from the US JCI Senate and will be notified with instructions for forwarding the completed hard copy application with original signature to Cindy Kinney, Virginia JCI Senate Scholarship chair.

This scholarship recognizes students who are passionate about making a difference in the diabetes community while advancing their education. Ten students will each receive $10,000, for a total of $100,000, to support their academic journey.

It’s open to incoming freshmen and current undergraduates (ages 18–22). The application deadline is March 21, 2026.

Eligible students live at locations that receive electric service from an electric cooperative in Virginia, Maryland, or Delaware.

The organization created the FRIENDS Founder Lynn Davis Scholarship to honor Lynn, the driving force behind FRIENDS. Each of our chapters will be awarding at least two $1,000 scholarships to an eligible student in their service area, which includes your school. Interested students are encouraged to apply.
