Agriculture is very common in Florida. Agriculture is farming or planting 

crops. Most of the agriculture in Florida is citrus. Florida is the perfect place for

agriculture because of our warm weather all year round.

Florida has many beaches. We have coast on tree sides.

The beach is one big reason tourist come to Florida.

Also because of these beaches we have all lot of ocean life

here.    

Cape Canaveral is an important place for our space program. It is were NASA is located. We do many important launches of space crafts and missiles there .

Disney is a huge tourist place.

Walt Disney created Disney World. It opened in 1971. Today Disney covers 30,00 acers.    

The Everglades is a national  park. There are all types of wild life.The park is like one huge swap. Although the Everglades are fun, but you have to be careful to keep the habit a nice place.  

Florida has many Immigrates. Most of are Immigrates come from Cuba.Florida now welcomes 9,000

Immigrates every year. When the Immigrates do come to Florida they so their culture in many ways 

Flagler was a man who helped shape Florida. Flagler was a very rich man. He built railroads that made Florida big. He brought tourist and money.  

Manatees were found by explores. The explores thought they were big mermaids. The Tequesta only gave the manatee meat to the chief and other leaders. The manatee is not a fish it is a mammal .     

The Great Depression was a bad time in Florida. Many lost jobs, homes, and money. But that wasn't even the worst. In 1929 fruit flies came to Florida and destroyed all the food supplies. The Government band Florida from selling oranges out of the state. This meet Florida lost a lot of money and many farmers lost work and homes.    

New Smyrna Marina is a place were you can hold your boat. Lots of people go there for fun. They have tons of parties there.   

Highways are a big deal in Florida.

they are the thing that connected us to

the other states. in the 1900's many people bought cars. Many people thought if they made roads many people would come to Florida and they did.  

Kennedy Space Center is a place for the study of space. It is also a place for tourist to come to. There are many amazing and breath taking things there it is also a great place to have fun 

There are many lakes in Florida. They hold all different types of fish. There all important. they use to be used for travel when the old Indian tribes were here. They were like the giver of life and supplied food and a place for animals. 

Long ago, Orlando only had muddy streets, a few stores, and a post office. But now it is very busy, all the people have nice cars, and there are very tall buildings. There is a big airport and highways. Many people visit Orlando every year to visit the parks.

A panhandle is a smaller strip of land that extends from a larger piece of land.

The highest part of the land in Florida is Britton Hill in the western panhandle. The Apalachee native American tribe live in the panhandle of Florida. Pensacola is the hub of the a smaller urban area.

Florida's white sand is made of bits of quartz. Quartz is a type of rock. This rock washes from the Appalachian Mountains. Many of the beaches are a pure dazzling white

Long ago people mostly traveled by train to visit Florida. Henry Flagler built a railroad that went from Jacksonville to Key West. Henry Plant built railroads that linked Jacksonville, Tampa and Orlando. Railroads helped tourism grow and many people came to escape the cold.

The Seminole people have many traditions. The name Seminoles comes from Spanish word runaway. They lived in log cabins, some had two stories.

Universal Studios is in Orlando, Florida. It is a commercial attraction. Places like Universal Studios bring many tourists and visitors to our state. It opened in 1990, it brings 5.5 million visitors every year.

The Voting Rights Act was passed by congress in 1965. It protected the right to vote to all citizens. It have equal right to African American, women, and other Americans.

 Wetlands are areas where water sits on the surface of the land for part or all of the year.  The Everglades are the biggest wetlands in Florida. Many animals there are endangered.

Ybor City is a little community in the city of Tampa. Many years ago is was populated by people from other countries. Ybor City is named after a person from Spain, Vicente Martines Ybor. He opened a Cigar factory there.

Florida has many places to visit, some of those are zoos. In Florida there are about 25 zoos and aquariums. Zoos help bring tourists to the state.
