Pharoah Ramses II the Great third king of the 19th dynasty of Egypt, whose reign (1279-13 BC) was the second longest in Egyptian history.

-Ramesses II was born in 1303 BC and died in 1213 BC, he lived an impressive 90 years and had over 150 children and over 200 wives.

-His father was Seti I and his mother was Tuya and his siblings were Henutmire, Princess Tia and Nebchasetnebet.

-After Ramses II died his body was buried in the valley of kings in luxor.

-Abu-Simbel Temples: Carved into cliffs, these sandstone temples honored sun gods Amon-Re and Re-Horakhte.

-Their elaborate art reflects Ramses II’s reign as an artistic pinnacle.

-Karnak Temple Complex: Ramses II expanded this vast temple.

-contributing to the Hypostyle Hall and other sections. It was dedicated to the god Amun-Ra.

-Ramesseum: Ramses II’s own temple featured a massive limestone statue of himself holding the crook and flail.

-Despite being in fragments, it symbolized divine authority and eternal life.

-His efforts and military campaigns maintained Egypt’s status as a regional power.

-His reign left an impact on national relations and contributed to the stability of the Egyptian empire.

-He worshipped Amun-Ra and commissioned numerous temples.

-He was so dedicated that people started considering him a god and when he died at 90 people knew him as their only pharaoh, causing them to think that the world would end.
