And when he leaves he will miss out on what the monster said.

 Conbor could also be more acceptable towards his family.  When he firsts meets with his dad he says. “ why did you come”. He was rude because he was scared and he didn’t know how to cope with life and his mother passing.  He also shows the same feelings for his grandma when he smashes all her stuff and talks back.
