What I like about this piece would be the composition. In my opinion it has a story-like aspect with the little people walking along a swirly path steps towards a long monument feature in tha back. The swirling patterns are meant to give off an illusion or mystical vibe.

This one I did in pencil so it has more layers and texture to it. There's the motif od butterflies in this piece because I was reminded of butterflies when listening to the Winter's tale music.

This one is the one I spend longest on. Out of all of them it might be my favourite. It has a fairytale vibe with the swirls and whimsical little dancers that are shaped like flower petals or cloth.

Jelling style (900 to 975 C.E), similar to the others and what has become a typical sign of Viking art is the motifs of interlacing animals. The Jelling style is more simplified compared to the others, however it still has a geometric and pattern structure to it. I like this pattern however, it was difficult getting the design I was copying from correct.

The Mammen style (960 to 1025 C.E), named after an axe with with style found in the Danish town of Mammen. It was made popular when King Harald Bluetooth made this his 'court' style. This style shares some similarities with the Jelling style, with the simplified structure and ribbon-like creature. There are also certain motifs borrowed from other European traditions, a sign of how trade or interactions occurred between Norsemen and the rest of Europe and other parts as well, for example Byzantine.

the beginning of my stage. My tutor gave me the dimensions for the Royal Opera house stage which I used to help with the dimensions of this stage. The grease pencil part is a simple sketch of a possible composition for my final set design. I'll be using the layering technique similar to the set design in L'etoile.

ROH trip

For our Royal Opera House trip where we saw 'La Boheme', I managed to get lots of interesting pictures. One of the most useful things I got from this the extent of creativity I can go to for my set design to create an atmosphere that does justice to one's style in the play and also immersed the audience. For example, the use of the fake snow through the play from the beginning and to some parts where it is needed. It seemed wasteful at first, however the way the characters interacted with the accumulated fake snow on the stage like it was part of it was smart and effective i think.

Viking/norse moodboard

I chose to make a mood board on Vikings because in my previous mindmap, I mentioned it there. The reason being would be because the story of 'The Winter's Tale' reminds me of the anime, 'Vinland Saga', due to similarities in some themes hence I figured to set my 'moment in time' in the age Vikings were around. Even though, there is more than norse culture in 'Vinland Saga', I want to learn about historic Viking art and understand the architecture of their buildings.

Wuthering waves

This is a video game I've been playing recently, named 'Wuthering Waves'. I've made a visual moodboard of this because I find the composition and 3D art in this to be beautiful and intriguing, both in-game and in the concept arts, I want to learn from it in some way. Wuthering Waves is a Chinese game set in a futuristic world and post apocalyptic world, where monsters (Tacet Discords) roam around. It's an open-world rpg or gacha game and the art and gameplay side are both really nice and immersive.

I included Borre style patterns for my throne here. It looks messy because the grease pencil lineart on a 3D object only shows if you view it at a certain angle which is from the point of view of the camera in the software, hence it looks messy if you don't view it with the camera. I was unable to view it with the camera because it tends to get difficult to move it around without anything going wrong.

the mountain is sort of like a distance view of Sicilia. The foreground grease pencil layer, with the clouds and moors, is meant to show the division between the distant Sicilia, and the current Bohemia.

Oseberg and Borre Style.

Oseberg style, popular in mainland Scandinavia, can be considered the earliest dated style (from 775 to 875 C.E). It is made in wood carvings and named after the Oseberg longship which it can be found on. Key motifs are the use of animals in a flowing style. In the piece I drew from, the motifs was a gripping beast with a ribbon like form.

The Borre pattern style (850 to 975 C.E) was spread to the British Isles and Baltic regions, as Vikings travelled around more. The key feature in borre style is the knot like decoration that interlace among each other. Animals are still a motif. I personally like this style a lot because it's more easier than the others.

Also blender 3D. Its a cup which I made using vert and modifiers like solidify and subdivide. I learned how to extrude and using the different plane shortcuts (side view, front view and above view).
