Why is reliability and validity considered important?

reliability is important because it determines whether or not the criteria and tests being used are accurate and can be used to help diagnose someone, or more so majority of clients, rather than set them farther back with false or useless information. meanwhile, validity is important because if a test is not valid then there is little to no data pertaining to what you are trying to diagnose, where as if it is valid then the test will produce results that further the process of diagnosing the client.

inter rater reliability how consistent a diagnosis is across several different doctors, supposedly using the same test or criteria. inter rater reliability is valuable, because it shows that there is enough characteristics, behaviors, and other symptoms that can be used to conclude a specific diagnosis across several psychologists.
(4 out of 4 mini doctors agree)
