that I thought could be produced from the perspective of a scary night in the wild and add some Chinese horror elements (ghosts) to my animation.

The Ghost Design

• Body: In the initial state, the ghost's body is translucent and can absorb light, gradually turning the body black, as if absorbing the surrounding light.

• Face: Its face has no features, only two deep hollow eye sockets.

• Weapon: The ghost's hair, which appears silky at first, grows longer and thicker as he attacks, rippling through the air.

I liked the posture of the bird in this picture. I might use bird-like features as references for my drawing.

For the mountaineer design, I chose colors that match the environment, focusing on low-saturation blues. To avoid the overall look being too dark, I added bright yellow to the inner layer. This creates a complementary contrast between blue and yello.

For the ghost design, I used traditional Chinese clothing combined with a bird-like beak and slender bones. I chose red to make the character stand out against the predominantly blue, dark-toned environment.

I think the lantern plays an important role in creating the atmosphere, so I used wind to make it sway.

The human’s movements are designed to show fear and terror. I tried to make each step look scared.

This TB Harmony is really helpful. When I was thinking about how to make the lantern glow, I didn’t realize that it could automatically adjust the light’s brightness. I might consider using this feature in my final animation.

Test 2

To show the volume of leaves, I used big blocks of color. This makes the picture simple and helps save time for animation work. It also makes the whole picture look more balanced.

For the colors, I first tried gray with red lanterns to make the picture more exciting. But I found this made the environment less interesting. In the end, I chose blue-gray as the main color. This keeps the mood dark and cold but less boring than just black and white.

I’m almost done, with only the last scene of the animation remaining. I have already finished recording all the other parts.

I plan to use two different animation to express this.

First, I’ll keep the scene still while the character moves across it.

Second, I’ll keep the character stationary and make the scene move as they step in place. To do this, I have split the scene into multiple layers for the 2.5D animation.

This was my first time creating frame-by-frame animation. I noticed that my line work and timing were not very good. Some of my sketches looked rough, and the movements could have been smoother. I realized that improving my drawing skills is important for animation. I plan to practice more sketching and line control to make my work better.

AI tools gave me many ideas during the planning stage. They were very useful, especially for exploring creative themes. I have always liked scary forest settings and enjoyed working with this style.

If I did this project again, I might change the theme to focus on small animals. I think this would be interesting and could fit well with horror elements. Horror themes are hard because they need good timing and atmosphere. I want to study how to use cameras more effectively, like trying dramatic zooms, to make scenes more exciting.
