While in solitary, Danny had begun to find faith and became a member of the 12-step-program in prison, because of this, he was able to successfully overcome his drug addiction, and only had to server 5 of the 10 years in prison. when out of prison, he would do jobs like, gardening, physical labor, and a substance missus counselor. Later on he would become interested on becoming a film extra, handing his contact information to an agent. He would then get called late at night to the set of Runaway Train by a teenage patient in needing help with cocaine problems. There he would meet a former inmate, Edward Bunker, who was the screenwriter of the film.
