They performed on the Reeperbahn for the first time in Hamburg and developed hugely as a band. "Hamburg was fabulous" (Inglis, 2012) and was a very influential part to the band. Reeperbahn is one of the biggest party areas of the city. I have also experienced the Reeperbahn and have been influenced deeply by Hamburg. The Reeperbahn even has a sculpture in their honor. Their music is my type of music and has influenced my style of music. The vibrant sounds and melodic notes are catchy and satisfying for the ear, similar to my music. The instruments and the style in which they play are very distinguishable. As for the rock genre, it has influenced me in a big way because of the rhythm and core that their music has, it is soulful and energetical.

He makes hip/hop rap music in a similar way that I do. Mac is self-taught in piano, guitar, drums and bass. I have also taught myself with the help of teachers and mentors how to play. Malcom James McCormick has a pseudonym called Larry Fisherman and various aliases. He also has another Artist name called Larry Lovestein & The Velvet Revival. This influenced me to have more than just one artist name. In my case, my main artist name is called Stag, and my alias is The Architect. Mac incorporates multiple instruments in all his albums, such as guitar, piano, drums, bass, synthesizers, and air instruments instead of using music programs. Something about recording live instruments makes me feel more present than on a computer. Mac Miller would start in Ableton and then move the post-production to Pro Tools with the help of Vic Wainstein. I also use Ableton from time to time and sometimes Pro Tools in post-production.

His lyricism is on a very high level, the way he connects words and plays with rhymes and different styles of rapping is on another level. Also his instrumentals are very good and captivating, along with his vocal being timed perfectly with the beat. "Cole's approach has become increasingly pensive and lyrical, sharply critical of issues endemic to hip-hop and society at large, concerned more about stimulating minds than providing entertainment." (AllMusic, 2010) He was born in Frankfurt, Germany where some of my family was also born. I was born in Germany as well, but in Berlin. He is a big influence to me because I idolize his way of rapping and the awards he has received and who he has worked with and made collaborations with. Some of my music is a similar to his, both in the sense of pensive rhymes and critical issues of society, which also stimulate the mind rather than provide entertainment, however I have not released these types of songs. They are to be recorded in the near future. I would also like to own my own music record label like Jermaine Cole owns Dreamville records, with an amazing talented roster.

Paul McCartney was influenced hugely by his vocals and who "got me hooked on beat music. When I heard 'Heartbreak Hotel' I thought, this is it." (Young, 2016) The Beatles style of music followed that of Elvis' Music. Not only of the music but also of his looks, they wore their hair slick back, and wanted to dress like him and have his swag. Elvis was the rock and roll model of that era which many followed. The Beatles' goal was to become bigger than Elvis and reach worldwide fame. Both The Beatles and Elvis Presley were known all over the world, both with rock and roll styles. Both used acoustic and electric guitars, and both Elvis Presley and John Lennon played the famous Gibson made guitars which "played a significant role in American musical history". (Art of guitar)

(Miller, 2017) To The Beatles he was making exotic yet normal music, he was almost like a guide into the dream of the rock n roll world. They were so influenced by Chuck that they recorded the same 'Sweet Little Sixteen' song. "Throughout the band's iconic career Berry's influence was on nearly every album, from "I Saw Her Standing There" off Please Please Me to "Back in the U.S.S.R." " (Miller, 2017) Not only did they share genres, but also production methods and music devices. They idolized him as the inventor of rock.  Chuck was an amazing guitarist, he played the Gibson made guitars just like John, and also electronic effects were employed to give more vibrancy to the sounds present.

Bob Dylan's style of music has a "romantic innuendo, with the intellectualism of classic literature and poetry." (Kooper, 2019) This is similar to some of The Beatles style of music, that Bob influenced a lot. Bob Dylan and John Lennon would remain competitive throughout their careers, where as George Harrison would become really close, "which many have cited Dylan as the reason for the guitarist's break out from the band." (Taysom, 2021) As the Beatles were figuring out different styles of music by releasing different sounding albums with effects like fade in and intentional feedback, they were starting to mature. One major part of this maturation was Bob Dylan. The Beatles had a history with alcohol and drug use such as Preludin. "Bob Dylan furthered the Beatles drug use by introducing them to marijuana." (Krerowicz, 2013) The use of instruments changed, going from electric guitars to acoustic guitars. They both used Gibson's mostly. He influenced pretty much their whole music style, starting from a "teenybopper pop phenomenon to the true artistic leaders of their generation." (Krerowicz, 2013)

"Miller divulged, "Who doesn't like Lauryn Hill? Anybody? I love how that album plays. I love the sounds used in that album [...] This sound [Plays The Fugees' 'Zealots'] is the greatest sound in the world." (Semple, 2022) The use of samples and mixing is similar to that of Miller's. "Hill pioneered the technique of rapping and signing." (Lauryn Hill Biography) Mac Miller's style of rapping is close to that of Lauryn's which flows over the instrumentals and how vocals are placed on top of each other to harmonize. Both used live instruments in the studio to make their music. Lauryn is considered one of the greatest female rappers in the world. Lauryn Hill just like Mac Miller use cardioid condenser microphones which is what most artists use now a day. Both artists are very spiritual and connected to themselves making them great at what they do. Their music brings out what is best and in some cases worse, like tough situations and troubled times that they had in the past. Lauryn is clearly a big influence on Mac Miller and his music as he followed her type of vibe.

"Aquemini is truly a well-rounded hip hop album. The album debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 and was so popular that it was certified platinum two months after is release." (Semple, 2022) Mac's hip-hop style is similar to Outkasts in his earlier albums, a classic boom-bap and old-school style which Mac incorporates in some of his albums. Also his style of rapping is similar to that of this group, Mac Miller has a lot of playful and hypnotic rhymes just like Outkast does. R&B is a big genre that is prevalent in their music, Mac Miller caught on various styles of their music and also use of instruments like a synthesizer, bass and guitar. This is especially noticeable in his later career albums, but especially in You by Larry Lovestein & The Velvet Revival.

"Midnight Marauders, is a classic East Coast jazz-hop album. [...] Speaking on why it’s one of his favourites, Miller simply stated, “For the real hip-hop!”" (Semple, 2022) Mac also has a very similar style to that of this group, with a classic boom-bap hip-hop groove. This group was one of the first groups that made an impact in the hip-hop music world. They used a lot of "Jazz, bass-heavy rhythmic vibes and eclectic sampling". (Hip Hop Scriptures) Mac Miller also uses a very jazzy and eclectic way of making his music. Just like ATCQ he makes some of his music with samples, Mac Miller shows some of his techniques of his production where he uses three vinyl records, and starts making a beat by taking samples and finished with playing some piano and guitar over the beat. Also the use of a drum machine was implemented in both parties, which is something that is still used today by music artists.

"He was my favourite rapper before I even started rapping." (Light) Listening to an artists music since a person is young completely influences their taste in music a lot. Cole's stepfather came back home with 2Pac's album called 'Brenda's Got a Baby'. Cole said "I was too young to know what he was talking about, but it connected. Cause that's the thing about art. It's just truth." (Light) 2Pac "felt strongly against crimes and even devised a plan to develop a "thug" code of ethics for jai inmates." (Okwerekwu, 2019) J. Cole also feels strong against crimes and inspired him to make better music and connect with his audience in a different way. Both make rap music that speaks about their lives and their environments, with a old-school sound, however J.Cole's sounds more refined with an emphasis on his lyricism. J.Cole can be considered as a rebirth of the old school mindset of hip-hop full of pure energy and vibe.

"Nas built a reputation as an expressive chronicler of inner-city street life." (Britannica) J.Cole was inspired by his music, and made chronicle songs in similar style like Nas. The story-telling boom bap tracks are some of the best. J.Cole picked up on some of his flow styles to make better songs with modern sounding sounds and lyrics, but still following the instrumental old-school style. Cole experimented with different voices and rapping styles in his albums. Just like Nas, he was trying to stay relevant in the industry by adding in more effects and samples. For example, the down or up pitching of the vocals. Unlike Nas, J. Cole was able to change and evolve with the hip-hop rapping genre effectively, and also evolve with the environment around him to captivate the audience.

Cole knew that if he went and connected with one of the top hip-hop artists it would get him to the top as well. Knowing and analyzing bigger artists helped him develop his music style and rapping structure. J.Cole signed under Roc Nation which completely changed his career, giving him access to the best tools in the music market. Jay-Z wanted to give opportunities with space and let the artists under his record to do what they wanted to do. After J. Cole grew into his no features records, he decided just like Jay-Z to make his own record label. He started adopting the father figure as he created Dreamville records and took "artists under his wing and [...] putting their needs above his own." (Hill, 2019)
