These two themes are don't judge a book by its cover and kindness. On page 12 the text states, "She laughed when there was no joke. She danced when there was no music. She had no friends, yet she was the friendliest person in school." Stargirl was kind to everyone no matter what people thought of her. This quote shows this because even though she had no friends she was still nice to all her peers. On page 10 the text states, "We wanted to define her, to wrap her up as we did each other, but we could not seem to get past 'weird' and 'strange' and 'goofy'. Her ways knocked us off balance." This quote clearly represents the theme of not judging a book by its cover because the kids at school judged Stargirl immediately when they saw her. Eventually some of her classmates admired her view of life and her personality.
