         <description><![CDATA[<div>Rudyard Kipling based various works upon his view that Imperialism would eventually benefit the people. &nbsp;<br><br>For example, Kipling's poem "The White Man's Burden," depicts of how white individuals are believed to impose their ideas of civilization upon colored people - in order to change society for the better.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>- Rudyard Kipling was a English journalist, author, &amp; poet. He wrote various works such as "The Jungle Book" and "The Man Who Would Be King." <br>- Kipling married Caroline Balestier&nbsp; and settled in Brattleboro, Vermont in 1892.<br>- Traveling in London, he met Wolcott Balestier, who later on helped published many of his writings. <br>-&nbsp; In his final years, Kipling suffered from a painful ulcer that took his life on January 18, 1936. His ashes were buried next to the graves of Thomas Hardy and Charles Dickens.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Having been born in the late 1800's, Kipling witnessed British Imperialism firsthand which impacted his perspective &amp; career all in all. “The White Man’s Burden,” by Rudyard Kipling ignored the economic motivations of imperialism in favor of moral actions. The phrase “the white man’s burden,” was eventually widely used by imperialists all over the world. For example, at the end of the Spanish - American War, Mark Twain proclaimed “The White Man’s Burden has been sung. Who will sing the Brown Man’s?"</div>]]></description>
