         <description><![CDATA[<div>The fourth largest island in the Caribbean with a population of approximately 2,970,340.  the country is racked by mental illness where 25.6% of females and 14.8 % of females is affected by the most common mental illness, depression and schizophrenia.  Despite when we thin about Jamaica we think of constant sunshine and reggae music but reality is rooted beyond that.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There is stigma in Jamaica associated with mental illnesses affects family members and friends.  The culture view this topic as one where the church or voodoo can intercept to help the inflicted or the cases remain hidden or ignored.  Parents failed to have their children assessed at an early age or to  seek any type of treatment.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The island is poverty stricken poorly educated making mental illness risk higher amongst the poor homeless and unemployed.  There are also several weaknesses in the healthcare structure which affects its function such as an inadequacy of mental health social workers, phycologists and ambulatory care.</div>]]></description>
