         <description><![CDATA[<p>(Chapter 14)</p><ul><li><p>The ICJ was established by the same constitutive instrument as the Security Council to act <strong>as the principal judicial organ of the UN</strong> (Art. 92).</p></li><li><p>The Council to peacefully settle international disputes is to make use of the ICJ’s jurisdiction in cases (Article 36 (3)).</p></li><li><p>Ask to provide advisory opinions on legal questions that arise in the Council’s work (Article 96 (1)).</p></li><li><p>As for non-compliance of an ICJ judgment, the Council has yet to use its powers under Article 94(2) to enforce a judgment.</p></li><li><p>Any legal subject may be referred to the ICJ for an advisory opinion by the GA or Council regarding security matters (Art. 96).</p></li></ul>]]></description>

(Ch. 14, Art. 92)</p></li><li><p>All countries that are members of the UN are part of the International Court of Justice, and any country that is not a member of the UN can still be a party of the ICJ if determined by the General Assembly with a recommendation from the Security Council. (Ch. 14, Art. 93)</p></li><li><p>UN member states are obliged to comply with the International Court of Justice as a party. (Ch. 14, Art. 94)</p></li><li><p>Other parties may request assistance from the Security Council if necessary with the aim of providing recommendations on a decision. (Ch. 14, Art. 94)</p></li><li><p>The provisions in the UN charter do not prevent member countries regarding existing differences and provisions.          <description><![CDATA[<ol><li><p>To maintain Global Peace and Security, The United Nations created a system where that takes care of certain territories through agreements which these territories called <strong>TRUST TERRITORIES.</strong></p></li></ol><p><br></p><ol start="2"><li><p>The trusteeship system will be for territories falling into these groups:</p><ul><li><p>Territories currently held under a mandate.</p></li><li><p>Territories that might be taken away from enemy countries after World War II.</p></li><li><p>Territories that countries agree to put under the system willingly, for which they're responsible for managing.</p></li></ul></li></ol><p><br></p><ol start="3"><li><p>In accordance with the Purposes of the United Nations on Global Peace and Security, The basic objectives of the trusteeship system are:</p><ul><li><p><strong>to support peace and Security.</strong></p></li><li><p><strong>to promote development.</strong></p></li><li><p><strong>to encourage human rights.</strong></p></li><li><p><strong>to ensure equality.</strong></p></li></ul></li></ol><p><br></p><ol start="4"><li><p>The administering authority must also ensure:</p><ul><li><p>The trust territory does its part to keep global peace and security</p></li><li><p>Fulfill commitments to the Security Council</p></li><li><p>Handle local defense and law enforcement within its borders.</p></li></ul></li></ol><p><br></p><ol start="5"><li><p>The Security Council of the United Nations makes decisions about important areas, like agreeing to the terms of trusteeship agreements and changing them if needed.</p></li></ol><p><br></p><ol start="6"><li><p>Countries or Territories that were governed or authorized by the <strong>Trusteeship </strong>system:</p><ol><li><p><strong>Palau:</strong> Administered by the United States as the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands until its independence in 1994.</p></li><li><p><strong>Micronesia:</strong> Along with Palau, part of the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands, administered by the United States until it gained independence in 1986.</p></li><li><p><strong>Marshall Islands:</strong> Another part of the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands administered by the United States until it became independent in 1986.</p></li><li><p><strong>Nauru:</strong> Administered by Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom as the Trust Territory of Nauru under a United Nations Trusteeship Agreement until its independence in 1968.</p></li><li><p><strong>Papua New Guinea:</strong> Administered by Australia as the Territory of Papua and New Guinea under a United Nations Trusteeship Agreement until gaining independence in 1975.</p></li><li><p><strong>Namibia:</strong> Administered by South Africa as South-West Africa under a League of Nations mandate until its independence in 1990.</p></li><li><p><strong>Tanganyika:</strong> Administered by the United Kingdom as part of the Trust Territory of Tanganyika under a United Nations Trusteeship Agreement until it gained independence in 1961.</p></li><li><p><strong>Ruanda-Urundi:</strong> Administered by Belgium under a United Nations Trusteeship Agreement until the territories gained independence as Rwanda and Burundi in 1962.</p></li><li><p><strong>Western Samoa:</strong> Administered by New Zealand under a United Nations Trusteeship Agreement until it became independent as Samoa in 1962.</p></li><li><p><strong>South West Africa (now Namibia):</strong> Administered by South Africa under a League of Nations mandate until its independence in 1990.</p></li></ol></li></ol>]]></description>
