I find it biased since his rebelliousness towards Islam (shock value for people at the hearing previously unaware or apathetic towards other religions) is mentioned throughout the investigation, and later, hearing. There has to be something more relevant attached to this case that'll prove once and for all if he's either guilty or innocent.
Ep. 2: his English teacher describes his poetry as being "dark," but other students in the class wrote the same.
Sidenote: It isn't that surprising that one teenager of all humans living, possess somewhat of a dark sense of humor. It goes hand in hand.
