         <description><![CDATA[<div>1) Geology<br>   1. The oldest rocks form the bottom parts of the imposing 300-500 ft cliffs of the Glorieta Mesa.<br>   2. The oldest rocks belong to the Permian Yeso Foundation, form the lower slopes below the cliffs, and consist of varying beds of red and orange sandstone.<br><br>2) Historical/Cultural Significance<br>    1. Villanueva means " New Town" in Spanish. <br>    2. The town was originally called " La Cuesta" which means hill in Spanish. The name was changed in 1890 when the Villanueva family petitioned the U.S. Government to have the town be named after them.</div>]]></description>

Go birding or horseback riding, camping or hiking, the land in and around Villanueva State Park is full of adventure, just waiting for you to experience.<br><br></div>]]></description>
