         <description><![CDATA[<div>I am Jamara Frazier, one of the proud school counselors at Peach Elementary in Arlington ISD.<br><br>The purpose of this legal and ethical guide is to inform teachers, fellow counselors, and administrators of Response to Intervention (RtI) and laws that center around RtI.<br><br>Response to Intervention (RtI) is a multi-tiered approach that is in place to identify and support students with learning and behavior needs. RtI is important to make sure that we meeting the needs of students and identifying ways to assist them in their academic journey.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. Response to Intervention (RtI) is important to simply foster awareness of the needs of our students. Ultimately, if we know better, we do better. A lack of knowledge and/or understanding is why there is some resistance when it come to the topic of RtI. Cultivating awareness will reinforce the importance of RtI and how imperative the process is to the instructional setting.<br><br>2. Best Practices</div><ul><li>Implement concentrated instruction that is focused on a small but targeted set of reading skills.</li><li>Adjust the overall lesson pace.</li><li>Include opportunities for extensive practice and high quality feedback with one-on-one instruction.</li><li>Progress and aggressive monitoring.</li></ul><div><br>3. An emerging issue with RtI is that all key components in the implementation is not being executed. Teacher and staff resistance to change and poor professional development on RtI are leading causes. These issue produce insufficient knowledge and lack of understanding. As a result, students are struggling.<br><br>4. Both legal and ethical standards have played an important role in my educational journey. These standards has allowed for the opportunity to receive a good quality and rigorous education. Also, these standards gave me the freedom to accomplish and live out my passions through getting my bachelors and master's degree.</div>]]></description>
