Glaring at me, like an inspection

An emotional tether

I view the vivid differences, and the obvious similarities,
of a family.
The ones who spend their time willingly,
and the ones whom could not care less.
To the ones who claim that they are done with life,
and the ones who try, and never give up.
The family is a mighty power,
or some may call a healthy flower which blooms overnight,
The large variety of skin tones is just a symbol of potential,
After all, they all just come together, and unite.
I've seen the miracles of this land, and not have seen one common pupil.
In a family,
A pair of identical twins may be quite comparable,
But both are thinking indeed quite different thoughts,
Yet laying side by side.
In major ways we are similar,
In minor ways we differ,
But at the same time, I still notice the connection,
That spreads through them like an infection,
And therefore we are more alike than we are unalike,

I am like an open book,

but no one read in between the lines.

My Teacher Ate My Homework

My teacher ate my homework,
which I thought was rather odd.
He sniffed at it and smiled
with an approving sort of nod.

He took a little nibble —
it is unusual, but true —
then had a somewhat larger bite
and gave a thoughtful chew.

I think he must have liked it,
for he really went to town.
He gobbled it with gusto
and he wolfed the whole thing down.

He licked off all his fingers,
gave a burp and said, “You pass.”
I guess that is how they grade you
when you're in a cooking class.
