Tarragon is a perennial herb with grass-like growing habits. There are French and Russian varieties of tarragon, but it's the French variety that cooks favor. The Russian tarragon is more intense and will grow taller and bushier than the French tarragon. It's prized for its skinny leaves (2-6cm), which are highly flavorful and aromatic when crushed. French dishes rely heavily on tarragon, and it's one of the herbs that's included in fines herbs. The herb can grow 0.4-1.2 meters tall. The plant will die back to ground level in winter.

You should plant it somewhere that it is easy to control the temperature and the amount of water it will receive.

Dig a 2.5cm deep hole for the tarragon to go into. The hole needs to be this deep so that the roots do not get disturbed while being planted.

Plant the herb 2 feet away from each other.
