These goals caused several consequences including the spread of disease, death of people natives and Europeans, and conflict on all sides. As a result of the death, suffering, and overwork of native peoples, attitudes were developed about how they should be treated. One of the big ideas/attitudes that developed during the exploration was the idea that natives should be treated humanely and that they should be converted to Christianity.
