We think this links to The Global Goals: Peace Justice and Strong institutions and also No Poverty.

Who took the photograph?

This photo was taken by Micheal Nolan.

Where and when was it taken? Why?

This is a photo of the Austfonna ice cap, taken in Norway. I think that it was taken becuase it wants people to be aware of climate change and melting ice-bergs. Also hoping some people will take action soon, and this will become more aware.

Which Global Goal has the photo been linked to?

I think this is linked to climate action and responsible composition and production. That is because it relates to nature and recycling.

What did you learn about the photo?

I learned that glaciers are melting and climate change is happening too. Most importantly of all" Over the past 50 years, humans have consumed more resources – stuff – than in all previous human history". And people know about this, they just don't want to take action. Most take and only a few give.

Was there anything that surprised you when you read about the background to the photo?

This is the part from the text that surprised me: " Over the past 50 years, humans have consumed more resources – stuff – than in all previous human history." " This cannot go on. Economics based on constant growth will destroy a planet of finite resources. " I never knew that!

What story does the photo tell you?

It tells me a story about from the outside a woman is crying, but what I see in the inside is earths cancer is getting worse. Humans are not protecting the environment, and if it doesn't stop now. There is no way back. And good job humans for almost destroying your only home! I hope you have started to save it now!

Does your research inspire you to take any form of action?

Yes, it inspires me to organize a cleanup of some of the most polluted places in Hong Kong and reuse and recycle the trash properly. That would be a huge benefit for the environment. And a fun learning experience for the younger ones. I hope you consider this idea.

THE END!

Photo 13, Global Goals Curious Photo Challenge - Mancy 8E

Describe what you can actually see in the photo

In the photo, I see a family of four laying down in what seems like a backyard with rubbish laid around them. The rubbish are from daily necessities and have probably been kept for over the course of a week to take the photo.

What do you think is going on in the photo?

The photo was probably taken in someone’s front yard or backyard.

There is a family of 4 in the image and there is rubbish laid around them.

They look disturbed and cheerless with all the rubbish laid around them.

I think the global goal it is connected to is global goal 11 and 12, which is sustainable cities/communities and responsible consumption and reproduction.

It is a family of 4 laid around a load of daily rubbish.

This shows that one family can waste that much from such a short period of time and everyone in the world wasting that much, there will be too much consumption and no sustainability at all.

What does the photo make you wonder about?

It makes me wonder about how much rubbish an average person consumes a day and how it affects the environment and the sustainability of our living habitats.
