I was able to go out of my comfort zone and try some adventurous activities. One of those activities included scuba diving.  Although I was extremely nervous in the practice tank, I dove into the pacific ocean and had an experience of a lifetime. Another thing I enjoyed about my vacation was the amazing Mexican food. As an avid picky eater I got to explore and try new foods. Some recipes I have incorporated into my dinners now!

Being a Winter baby and having my birthday only days before Christmas always made it more special because it brought my whole family together. In the world of consumerism and seasonal spirit, Christmas is so much more than just a single day. Winter time is Christmas time. when Winter starts, so does Christmas, or at least, festivities leading up to it. I attended a Catholic Elementary School, and I remember being so excited when Advent masses and celebrations began.
 I used to write short stories based around Christmas when I was a child, and I remember my favourite Elementary School teacher in the whole world used to decorate our classroom with the prettiest Christmas decorations and play Christmas music during our breaks. It was the best vacation not only because it was beautiful with its turquoise canyons and winding passes, but because the people in this northern province welcomed us with open arms and were so excited to teach us about their culture. Staying with some of the ethnic minority groups there, truly made the trip what it was. I’ll never forget eating family dinner and listening to our host, Chu, play Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On, on his bamboo flute because he knew I was Canadian. It was a trip I won’t forget!

It allows for investment into these two colliding worlds and gives an intimate perspective into how Indigenous peoples may have had to deal with the inception of European settlers, as well as how one missionary saw the "opportunities" for the Church to infiltrate Canada. While country music themes tend to me about driving big pick up trucks and patriotism, folk music focuses mainly on social justice issues. Folk music is more rebellious and varied in its nature. My name's Angel. My hobbies, as of the past year and a half especially, begin with things surrounding self-care and mindfulness. I have therapy sessions every week or so, I journal, and I practise grounding techniques to be present in whatever the day brings me; I find that taking care of myself is what drives my passion toward the things that I love to do, such as draw and write, bake and cook delicious food, do makeup, go on hikes, connect with friends/family, do things like stargaze on my driveway, or watch the sunrise in the early morning: all of which are the things I find myself yearning to do while in the midst of a depressive episode or anxiety spiral. I have ADHD, which makes each day it's own task in many ways, so on top of managing anxiety and depression, I find gratitude in prioritizing my mental health through self-care. I am really into listening to podcasts in the morning as I get ready to start my day or when I am on the transit. My favourite podcasts at the moment are Malcolm Gladwell's "Revisionists History" show or Jay Shetty's show "On Purpose".

I listen to music just as equally as I listen to podcasts but I usually reserve music to times of the day when I like to relax after work and do chores like vacuuming. My favourite tunes include Italian Indie singers like Calcutta, Gio Evan, and Frah Quintale.
