It talks about a boy named Piscine (Pi) whose family owns a zoo. They were moving to Canada with all their animals when the boat sunk. Pi survived by getting in a lifeboat with a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan and bengal tiger. This story develops around the love-hate relationship between Pi and the Richard Parker, the tiger. 

Most people I have talked to don't  like this book or find it boring. However, I actually enjoyed it a lot. It is quite philosophical which I like.
