I really enjoyed the learning walk. I was specifically impressed with the learning centered and organized environments in a couple of the rooms. The rooms were designed with students and their learning front and center.

The students all appeared to know what to do, even though there were a variety of activities going on in several rooms. The student to student conversations all sounded like they were on task. Next time, I would like to spend a longer period of time in each room, and see the beginning of a lesson, to see how things get started. It is tough to make connections between what is observed after a lesson has started, without seeing where things began, and how the expectations were established.

I always enjoy observing how other teachers manage small group instruction. I loved what I saw the last two days and how each student knew exactly what to do and what the expectations were for the assignment. I truly think that watching other teachers actually "teach" is the best kind of professional development. I would love to take this a step further and observe teaching in other schools as well.

This was a very enjoyable experience. It is great to see kids in environments different than my own, engaged in different ways. I was impressed by the respectful and positive environments that were evident in each classroom. The students were aware of their expectations and followed them. I LOVED observing AVID. Watching middle school students interact in that way was amazing. I would love to observe more classrooms throughout the year. It is really a great way to learn new strategies by seeing them in action

I had never thought of using it as a poster for one student. I always viewed it as a collaborative piece. It was also very awesome to see the students engaged as they worked through a poem through scaffolding.
