Miranda and Ferdinand have a relationship that is built on love and affection. Their actions and dialogue extenuates the fact that their love is too strong to be real. Both characters express their emotions in a way that proves to themselves that they have a bond that is unbreakable. Miranda tells Ferdinand, after they get close by learning more about each other, “I don’t even know what people outside of this Island looks like. But I wouldn’t wish for any man in the world besides you”. Miranda has never seen anyone besides her father, for the concept of “love” is new to her. Her reaction to Ferdinand, flirtatious and affectionate, would have been the same to any other male figure. “I’ll marry you if you want to be my husband”, is what Miranda says to Ferdinand when she realizes their love is too strong. They were moving fast in their relationship; they end up being married after they just met. They were not able to thoroughly get introduced. Their actions and tone towards each other always seems forgiving. Phrases like “I don’t deserve you” and “And here’s mine and as well as my heart”, prove the fact that they do not acknowledge the characteristics within the character but instead they just focus on the act of love. The interaction, the dialogue does not show the real aspects of both characters; they seem to be in the “honeymoon phase”. Falling in love with the person is what “love” is about, and not with the “act or process of love”.

The relationship between Miranda and Ferdinand was a realistic relationship. In Miranda First relationship and he was her first person that she saw other than her dad (Prospero) so that makes it really important because she never fallen in love with anyone else so that shows that she will fell that she is closer to him. In the book it really showed that they really liked each other and they were like a normal couple. "Alas now, pray you, Work not so hard. I would the lightning had Burnt up those logs that you are enjoined to pile! Pray, set it down and rest you.” This quote showed that she really cared about him and even when he was not with him she was thinking about him and she praying for him. It is a realistic relationship when they both care about each other and think about them in a good way that is how a realistic relationship is.

The relationship between Miranda and Ferdinand is non-realistic due to the fact this is being acknowledged in 2017. During the play, Shakespeare portrays Miranda and Ferdinand to have a real connection with each other, during the play, whether or not Prospero had put a ‘spell’ on them or not. The scene started off with Ferdinand picking up wood to show how deeply in love he is with Miranda. During “The Tempest “when Miranda first laid eyes on Ferdinand she fell in love. She had not seen a man for years other than Prospero and Caliban. Things as (Act 3 Scene 1) ‘You’re so perfect, you’re more perfect than anyone I have ever met’ are not said during the 21st century because not many people think of things to say like that. Many people have the doubts about finding love that fast. ‘Love at first sight’ may be true for some people and not true for others. Slang has changed and is used in many ways to show romance. 3 scenes into the book, Miranda, and Ferdinand decided that they wanted to get married to each other by only spending half the day together. Many people may find that crazy and unrealistic because people can take years to find the person they love. The Tempest was based off a non-realistic storyline, this helps readers to understand the connections or implications of the 21st and 11th century.

An instantaneous love affair is not usually in reality, but such an extravaganza appears in many plays including Shakespeare's “The Tempest” including to characters that immediately fall in love. Foremost, Shakespeare often exaggerates human qualities especially emotions. He also attempts to make his plays whimsical by throwing away logic. Considering, in act three scene one, Miranda keeps her distance from Ferdinand but then she suddenly runs out to the heir to the Duchy of Milan. This is an impulsive action and in a status quo, Miranda would have stayed waiting till Ferdinand was finished working listening to her father. Another discrepancy to reality occurs when Ferdinand attempts to stop Miranda from helping him with his work, but Ferdinand’s mind just changed into loving Miranda. This is unrealistic because after getting into an argument the two did not have any residual negative feelings; those negative feeling would have slowed down or prevented them from falling in love. Therefore, Shakespeare's play “The Tempest” is illogical and unrealistic when looking at Miranda and Ferdinand's love affair.

The love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand is positively realistic. “I don’t mind doing this hard work because I’m doing it for the woman I love” (III.iii.75) Ferdinand obeyed Prospero’s orders, which was to carry logs. Firstly, one wouldn’t normally carry logs for another, unless that individual is doing it for the others love. When Miranda was trying to help Ferdinand, he said he would rather break his back than allowing her to do that. Ferdinand was thoughtful, and made sure that she did not get hurt. Secondly, when Ferdinand asked Miranda why she was crying, she replied, “because I don’t deserve you.” (III.iii.78) Then continued, “I must not be shy! I’ll marry you if you want me to be my wife. If not, I’ll still love you” (III.iii.79). Miranda previously knew that Ferdinand is the prince, and she thinks that she does not fit in with him. However, she expresses her love, and by saying that she will love him even if he doesn’t feel the same way to her, she truly loves Ferdinand. Therefore, it is true that the love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand is realistic.

The relationship between Miranda and Ferdinand is unrealistic. They say and do things that people in the real world would not do. Firstly, Miranda offers to help Ferdinand with the logs he immediately says "No! I'd rather break my back than allow you to do that." he also says things like "I'm not tired when you're here." In the real world, a prince would never work for someone lower than him let alone refuse to get help from someone. Also it also very unrealistic that Miranda asks Ferdinand to be her husband even though they have only met for about three days and before really getting to know each other. " I must stop being shy! I'll marry you if you want me to be your wife" a normal person would take at least 3 months before finally deciding to marry someone so this makes the relationship between Miranda and Ferdinand unrealistic and not healthy.

The love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand is not realistic, though it could be realistic to people that believe in “love at first sight”. Prospero orders Ariel to introduce Ferdinand to Miranda with his magical spell. Ferdinand proves his love to Miranda and Prospero by doing whatever Prospero orders him to do. Prospero ordered Ferdinand to serve him and pick up woods. In Act III Scene I Ferdinand said to Miranda, “ I love you more than anything else in the world.” Ferdinand was the first man Miranda has met besides her father and it does not seem realistic to love someone in a day unless you believe in love at first sight. While crying Miranda said to Ferdinand, “Because I don’t deserve you.” With not knowing Ferdinand, she falls in love with him. It is currently in the 21st century, and Shakespeare wrote “The Tempest” during the 17th century. This kind of love does not happen anymore. There are barely any females that have not met a male during 2017. Realistic relationships can be based on true love and affection to one another.

Miranda and Ferdinand show love and affection towards each other which proves they have a substantive, real bond. In Act 3, Scene 1, the two characters are devoted to each other, as they admit their appreciation and love. Since the two characters were not under a spell, they were not compelled to act with fondness. The way the two characters interact with each other shows their bond is unbreakable and everlasting. Their relationship is proven to be so strong as Ferdinand says “I love you more than anything else in the world”. Ferdinand over-exaggerates which makes his love more real for Miranda. Their love affair is also influenced by how Miranda reacts and comments phrases like, “ I don’t deserve you.” Ferdinand talks about the power of their love affair when he says “You’ll be mine and I’ll be yours.” The way the two characters speak to each other proves that the love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand is affectionate and cherishing.

It shows that their love is realistic because they both love each other very much and they have personal thoughts on each other and even Prospero agrees to let Ferdinand have his Daughter Miranda, It shows when Ferdinand would work for Prospero and take all the logs for Miranda if Ferdinand did not love Miranda he would not carry the logs because he is a prince soon to be king. Also, Miranda is making herself carry her logs instead of letting Ferdinand carry the logs and they kept arguing and arguing about it.the love between Ferdinand and Miranda is realistic.

Miranda’s love affair towards Ferdinand is bona fide. Ferdinand says in Act III, Scene I, Page I “I’m working for a mistress who makes me enjoy my labor,” and “Oh, she’s ten times nicer than her father is mean, and he’s the height of crabbiness.”. Ferdinand uncovers why he is working hard, and working for some person he does not care for. It is simply because of the woman he loves, these actions strengthen their love affair towards each other. Miranda says ”We’re safe from my father for at least three hours,”(Act III, Scene I, Page I). Miranda will ignore her dad and imperil their relationship all for Ferdinand. Miranda will do anything for ferdinand, she is showing him how good they will be when they are together. In Act III, Scene I, Page 2 Miranda is begging Ferdinand to sit and get settled, yet Ferdinand is refusing. He does not need Miranda to move a muscle and Miranda needs the same for him. The scene closes with Miranda and Ferdinand getting ready for marriage. Along these lines, they really adore each other and they will dependably be paying attention to each other and taking care of each other

The love affair between Ferdinand and Miranda is realistic because Ferdinand is sacrificing the things he has for Miranda. “I don’t mind doing this hard work because I’m doing it for the women I love”. He wants to do anything he can to help his love and to be closer to Miranda and please her father. He is working as a slave just for her because he loves her and she keeps watching him and telling him not to work hard. that shows that Ferdinand is trying to do lots of things to please Miranda and Prospero. “I will carry the logs for a while.” Ferdinand replies by saying “No I’d rather break my back than let you do that”. Miranda shows her love to Ferdinand and tells him that she will carry the logs for a while, but he does not allow her and tells her that he would rather break his back than let her do that. Miranda is in love and it is very noticeable. They keep on trying to help each other even for the hardest of jobs.

The love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand is not realistic. It is not realistic because when they first laid eyes on each other Ferdinand said that he would make her the Queen of Naples without knowing anything about her. This is not something that would happen in real life because marrying someone and making her the queen from the first moment you met does not make sense. Ferdinand, in Act 3, Scene 1, is put to the test by Miranda’s father when he makes him do work to prove his love to her while he thinks to himself “I don't mind doing this hard work because I'm doing it for the woman I love.” This is a big learning moment towards the realisticness to their relationship as they express this love since the moment they have met. Above all this they continue to have thoughts that continue expressing love saying things like, “She's ten times more beautiful than her father is mean.” and “Thinking about her keeps me going.” These flirtatious thoughts would be normal if they were not exaggerated and if they did not happen every few minutes with more love each time.

The love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand is unrealistic. This is primarily because of the way that Prospero treats Ferdinand and his relationship with Miranda. Prospero wants Ferdinand to have a love affair with Miranda which can be seen in the dialogue between Miranda and Prospero when Miranda says “I could imagine he’s divine, since I never saw anything so noble-looking on earth before.” after which Prospero, in excitement, thinks to himself “They’ve fallen in love at first sight!”. This shows that Prospero wanted Miranda to fall in love with Ferdinand yet Prospero still treats Ferdinand rudely and with disrespect. That is shown when Prospero tells Ferdinand “Come on, I’ll chain your neck and feet” after which locking him up. Realistically Prospero would treat Ferdinand with kindness and respect since he is the one who instigated the relationship. Therefore Prospero would want Ferdinand to think better of Miranda and himself. This shows that even though Prospero wants Ferdinand to fall in love with Miranda he still treats him horribly in hopes it will make Ferdinand want the love more. In reality there is a fair chance that Ferdinand would not fall in love with Miranda just because of how hard Prospero made him work for the relationship. Its is very risky for Prospero to make Ferdinand work as hard as he did for the relationship. This scenario is extremely unrealistic because no father would take such a big risk for their daughter to fall in love when there is a scenario in which the risk can be avoided altogether.

Throughout the play, Ferdinand displays his love towards prospero’s daughter, Miranda, using romantic diction and tone within the dialogue. Both characters were firstly introduced in Act 1, Scene 2 and immediately fell in love. Although of their affection to each other already, Prospero controlled and manipulated Ferdinand using his powers in order for the two to understand the meaning of love. Miranda and Ferdinand are then reunited in act 3, scene 2. Ferdinand is presented carrying logs alongside Miranda who is offering to help him work. Ferdinand then expresses his appreciation by answering, “No, my darling, I’d rather strain all my muscles and break my back than let you do work like this while I lounge around nearby.” This quote justifies his admiration as he states he would break all of his muscles instead of watching Miranda carry wood. This tone is further reinforced when Miranda had asked if Ferdinand loves her, Oh heaven, oh earth, witness what I’m about to say, and reward me if I tell the truth! If I’m lying, then destroy all my prospects in life! More than anything else in the world, I love you, value you, and honor you.” This quote clearly emphasizes his adoration to her as he uses romantic diction which includes, “I love, value and honor you.” Therefore, Ferdinand’s romantic diction and tone in his dialogue proves his realistic affection to Miranda.

The love relationship between Miranda and Ferdinand is realistic. This is demonstrated when Ferdinand says “I love you more than anything else in the world,” This happened when he was chopping wood, and Miranda came up to him to and they expressed their feelings to one another other, this quote is really powerful and strong and shows that he really like Miranda and wants to marry her. Also, by Miranda ignoring her father’s demands, considering that he has a lot of powers and can use magic, shows that she truly loves Ferdinand, which further ensures that their love is realistic. This is further reinforced when Miranda says “ I must to stop being shy, I’ll marry you if you want me to be your wife,”. Her eagerness to love him, and to marry him shows her fondness and love to Ferdinand no matter what he father thinks or says. Therefore, their love and passion towards each other shows that they have a realistic and strong relationship.

Is the love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand realistic? Why or why not?

The love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand is not realistic. Ferdinand is the first individual she has seen from outside the island, as she says “I don’t even know what people outside this island look like” and “I’ve never seen anything like him before” Since she has never seen another guy other than her father and Caliban then she might just be amazed because she has never seen anyone else. And a big problem is that she says “Is it a ghost? It’s very handsome” This is the first thing that Miranda says when she sees Ferdinand, she calls him Handsome, later on in the scene she says “Someone this handsome can’t be evil” Miranda might think this because she has never seen anyone evil other than Prospero’s brother who took his place as the rightful duke, or she just has a strong belief that handsome men are never evil. Lastly, the love affair is not realistic because them falling in love was all planned by Prospero, as he says “It’s happening just as I planned”, this proves that them falling in love was all planned out, and since this was all planned then it can't be true love, because Prospero could have planned for Miranda to see another individual and she would be satisfied, for she doesnt know any better, as previously stated, she has never seen anyone outside of the island. Therefore there love for each other is not being realistic.

The love affair between Ferdinand and Miranda is not very realistic. Their love is tampered with when Prospero curses them to slow down, and when he accuses Ferdinand of being a spy so that there is distance between the two of them. Upon first sight, Ferdinand and Miranda instantly fall in love. Prospero catches on to that, and puts a spell on Miranda to make sure that her love for Ferdinand is slowed down. Though he did it for good purpose - to make them appreciate the value of their love - that makes it unauthentic. Furthermore, he falsely and knowingly accuses him of being disloyal so that he and Miranda will have a lot of distance and it would be hard for them to fall in love. Consequently, the fact that Prospero messed with the love of Ferdinand and Miranda makes it not realistic.

The relationship between Miranda and Ferdinand is unrealistic because it was not established under trust and love. An ideal romantic relationship is built on mutual dependence and understanding. It is is important for both people to truly know and love each other before anything serious — such as marriage — can take place. Ferdinand and Miranda’s love affair was a product of Prospero’s manipulative plan to usurp the dukedom. Their relationship was part of a plot; it was not based solely on love. Upon seeing Ferdinand laboring for Miranda, he says to himself, “They are in love. But it’s happening too quickly. I must slow things down.” Prospero interferes with their relationship, and although Miranda’s happiness pleases Prospero, Miranda’s romance with Ferdinand has been established under artificial circumstances. Their love might be sincere, but their relationship has been manipulated by Prospero. Miranda herself says, “I’ve never met any men besides you and my father. I have no idea what people look like in other places, but I swear by my modesty, which I value above everything else, that I’d never want any companion in the world but you.” Miranda has never met another man other than her father, so it is very unrealistic for her to want a marriage so abruptly with Ferdinand. They have known each other for only a few hours, so it is highly illogical for them to already be in love. Miranda’s relationship was not built wholly on love alone, but rather, it has been manipulated by Prospero. Therefore, the relationship between Ferdinand and Miranda is based on false pretenses and is unrealistic.

Miranda’s actions towards Ferdinand signify a realistic relationship, which is built on love and devotion. In “The Tempest” Act 3 scene 1, both of the characters express their affection and demonstrate a unique bond that is unbreakable. In the play, Ferdinand tells Miranda “I’d rather strain all my muscles and break my back than let you do work like this while I lounge around nearby.” This insinuates that Ferdinand would do anything for Miranda, even if it means to hurt himself. He is starting to realize how strong his love for Miranda is. Later on in the play, Miranda says that Ferdinand is the first man she has ever seen, other than her father. This implies she doesn't know how the rest of the world is like and is new to this type of love. Miranda and Ferdinand are moving too fast with their relationship, she says that she wants to marry him even if they had just met; “I’ll marry you if you want to be my husband”. This affects their relationship because if it is moving too fast it is not “true”. One must take their time to get to know their “love” before declaring it. Miranda didn’t did not have the patience to wait and familiarize herself with men, Ferdinand, as this is the first time she feels this love and sees a man, other than her father. Because of the way Miranda acts and speaks around Ferdinand, it is obvious that she is very passionate about him. Near the end, Ferdinand tells Miranda, ”You’ll be my wife, dearest, and I’ll serve you forever.” This suggests that Ferdinand will be loyal and truthful forever. Miranda and Ferdinand are too passionate that they are focusing too much on the act of love rather than the characteristics within each other. This illustrates a realistic relationship and bond, which allows a devoted and emotional environment together.
~Celine

The connection amongst Miranda and Ferdinand is improbable because of the fact that it was not set up under trust and love. A perfect sentimental relationship is based on shared reliance and comprehension. It is imperative for the two individuals to genuinely know and adore each other before anything genuine —, for example, marriage — can occur. Ferdinand and Miranda's relationship was a result of Prospero's manipulative arrangement to usurp the dukedom. Their relationship was a piece of a plot; it wasn't based exclusively in light of affection. Prospero noticed that the love affair is occurring quicker than planned and that he must sedate it, “They are in love. But it’s happening too quickly. I must slow things down.” Prospero meddles with their relationship, and in spite of the fact that Miranda's joy satisfies Prospero, Miranda's sentiment with Ferdinand has been set up under counterfeit conditions and has been controlled by Prospero. Moreover, Miranda has never met another man other than her father, so it is extremely doubtful for her to need a marriage with Ferdinand. They have known each other for just a couple of hours, so it is highly improbable for them to as of now be enamored. Ferdinand and Miranda's relationship was not manufactured completely on adoration alone, yet rather, it has been controlled by Prospero. Therefore, the connection amongst Ferdinand and Miranda depends on affectations and unreasonable.

Ferdinand's actions through the book show that the love affair between Miranda and himself is realistic. In Act II Scene I Ferdinand meets Miranda and falls in love with her instantly.Ferdinand asks her if she is a goddess because of how beautiful she looks, “I will make you the queen of Naples” is what Ferdinand tells Miranda after explaining that his dad was the king of Naples and has died in a shipwreck, along with the Duke of Naples and his son, which means that he is going to ask Miranda to marry him. Prospero talks to Ferdinand freezes him and acts like he is a spy. Prospero is making sure his plan goes perfectly, he shows this by pushing his daughter even though he said he would do anything in the world for her. In Act III Scene I, you see Ferdinand chopping logs because Prospero told him to, he talks to himself and says I don’t mind chopping all these logs because I am doing it for the woman I love, when Miranda sees him she tells him to take a break or to let her help him and he says he would rather break his back then let her carry logs in his place, which shows that he has respect for her.

The true meaning of love is being able to show deep affection to someone who you truly care for. Love develops slowly throughout time and can not be developed just at a glance. The love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand is not healthy as it was quickly rushed, forced by Prospero, and developed by lust. Miranda mentions to Ferdinand that she had never met another human before and explains to him that he is handsome, “how features are abroad I am skill-less of, but, by my modesty… Nor can imagination form a shape besides yourself to like of ” (III.i.5-57). Miranda had never seen any human other than Prospero and Caliban, so when she first meets Ferdinand, she quickly falls in love just by the idea of being able to see another man. Ferdinand, on the other hand, had met many women and knows what he is looking for in a wife. However, when Ferdinand met Miranda the first time, he did not know her personality. He fell in love with her because she was beautiful, which in fact is lust, not love. Ferdinand tells Miranda, “My prime request, Which I do last pronounce, is—O you wonder!— If you be maid or no” (I.ii.421-422). This quote proves that Ferdinand had fallen in Miranda due to her beauty, which proves this relationship is made out of lust. Miranda’s greatest quality is feeling sympathetic to other people, and Prospero, Miranda’s father, took advantage of that by making Miranda care for Ferdinand. He manipulated Ferdinand into thinking that his father, Alonso also known as the King of Naples, is dead, so he started to grieve and feel sad. Miranda then hears Ferdinand crying, so she asks her father why he was crying. After Miranda asked about Ferdinand, Prospero convinced Miranda to go talk to Ferdinand and gave her the thought of finding him handsome, “he’s something stained With grief that’s beauty’s canker, thou mightst call him A goodly person. He hath lost his fellows And strays about to find 'em” (I.ii.409-413). Miranda then goes up to Ferdinand and falls in love since Prospero had gave her the thought of him being handsome. This quote proves that the relationship between Miranda and Ferdinand was forced by Prospero. Overall, Miranda and Ferdinand’s love had developed quickly which resulted in the relationship to be weak and unrealistic.

Hala Abdelhadi In Act 3 scene 1, we are introduced to a love affair between Miranda, the daughter of Prospero, a duke who has been overthrown and exiled, and Ferdinand, the son of Alonso, the King of Naples. Although in this scene they seem to have a very strong relationship, and one may call it love at first sight, the love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand is not very realistic. Being the daughter of Prospero, Miranda has been in exile since she was an infant, and so hasn’t seen any other person other than her father for her whole life. “I don’t even know what people outside this island looks like” Miranda explains to Ferdinand as they are expressing their love for each other. These two lovebirds, have only seen each other for one day, and they already seem to be falling in love, which in reality rarely happens, and if it does, it may not be real. One occasionally falls in love with another after having built a strong relationship with each other, and not just by greeting someone who has outer beauty, personality and inner identity which may not be as beautiful as it may seem. And so, the love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand is not realistic as it is a relationship based off of love at first sight, and such relationships do not normally last long.

The love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand is not exactly realistic because Alonso would probably not approve of the marriage. There are many reasons of why he probably will not be approving it. One is that he will not allow Ferdinand to marry anyone but another princess. Back then usually Royals would marry other royals, usually rich ones, to maintain their royalty. They would definitely not marry some commoner that does not have money. We can also look back to the Great Chain of Being in which all the royals stay together and impact to ensure they stay in power. Also if Alonso finds out that he is alive, he will be too happy and relieved to even start thinking about something like marriage especially since he thought, “No. He’s dead.” or in other words Alonso to be believing in the supposed death of Ferdinand. Although, if Ferdinand is going to find out that his father was alive this whole time, he will probably feel too surprised and happy and might even let go of the love that he has with Miranda like when he said, “This music makes me think of my drowned father.”. This means that since Ferdinand is so worried about his father so being dead, if he meets him he would have an explosive matter in his brain which might lead to looking only to his father and release the love on Alonso with no love left for Miranda. So this love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand is clearly not realistic due to these points.

Stephano may be serious about killing Prospero however Trinculo is not agreeing with the idea. Trinculo said “Stupid monster, I am not a coward! Why would you lie like that?...” and then Caliban replies “don’t let him make fun of me my lord” Trinculo then says “LORD! What an idiot!”. This quote shows that Trinculo can not handle the fact that Caliban believes that Stephano is his “new ruler”, and it also shows how Trinculo does not trust caliban by claiming that he had lied. However, by the end of Act 3, Scene 2, it shows an image of Trinculo, Stephano, and Caliban talking about how they should follow the spirit that was singing songs. Trinculo, however, was unsure of this idea. Another piece of evidence presented in Act 2 Scene 2, was when Stephano was shown entering the scene very drunk, which did not give him a good background as a new character. It also showed that Stephano was trying to play around with Calibans head, knowing that he is a monster and has very low knowledge. Stephano does that by taking the wine that he had been drinking and pouring some in Caliban's mouth, and since Caliban never drank wine, his liver was new to it witch triggered him into reacting in a very weird way which made him think that he was capable enough to kill Prospero with the new man he worships or serves, which is Stephano. Trinculo at the time was thinking that if Caliban was tricked into thinking that they are gods and that he should worship them was probably a genius idea. Stephano and Trinculo may have been serious about killing Prospero at the time but it seems as if Trinculo's opinion had changed over the scenes.

In Shakespeare’s “The Tempest”, the actions of Miranda and Ferdinand reveal that the love between both of them is realistic. Firstly, Miranda is approaching Ferdinand although she is told not to talk to Ferdinand by her Father, Prospero. “Come on don’t speak to him”. While Prospero was having conflict with Ferdinand, Miranda was constantly trying to stop her father from harming Ferdinand. Upon entering her yard, Miranda notices that Ferdinand is put to work by her father, she did not know Prospero was watching them through his window. Miranda and Ferdinand love each other, and they say this after they have before gotten know each other. This is further remarked when in Prospero’s thoughts he says that his daughter is in love. If it is anyone who understands when Miranda has fallen in love, it is Prospero, because he has raised Miranda from the day she was born. Miranda asks Ferdinand if he loves her and he surely responded with yes. This tells us that the love affair in between Miranda and Ferdinand, is healthy, strong and has a lot of potential.

Miranda and Ferdinand’s relationship is not a realistic relationship. Miranda expressed her love to Fernand when she said “I don’t even know what people outside of this Island looks like. But I wouldn’t wish for any man in the world besides you” which gives the reader an understanding that their relationship is extreme and nothing could break it. However, Miranda did not have the ability to interact with anyone in her life as she was in a close environment with only her father in her life. She was not introduced to the world therefore has very little knowledge about the word “love”. When Ferdinand was flirting with Miranda, she thought she felt a strong connection between the both of them when saying she would marry him if he wanted to be her husband. Falling in love however, takes a while to actually build and have meaning. The process of “love” takes a long time and falling in love after a day is not realistic.

Ferdinand and Miranda have an unrealistic relationship because usually, people that meet in one day and get engaged, have a relationship this happens a lot but, it can still happen in real life although it is not very common. the relationship is fair as true love cannot be unfair. what we know is that Miranda and Ferdinand love each other but what is coming is unknown because Ferdinand might repeat Calibans actions. Ferdinand is

the son of Alonso "King of Napels" he on the other hand might not approve of the marriage in the way Prospero did keeping in mind that the experience might have led Prospero to disapproving of the Marriage but he did not which shows a sign of trust between the two.

Ferdinand expressed his emotions to Miranda enough times to make the relationship seem or even become realistic. Firstly, Ferdinand was ordered by Prospero to chop logs. This was reinforced when he says,’ I don’t mind doing this hard work because I’m doing it for the woman I love’ (III.I.75) . This highlighted the importance that Miranda had on Ferdinand’s life; her importance was shown when he said that he would sacrifice anything, their love for one another was mutual when Miranda was talking about how she has never met a man from outside this island before and that she wouldn’t want him to be any different from Ferdinand. His love for her was also shown when he was actually chopping the logs, he claims that Miranda is the one whom kept him going, which was shown when he says,'Thinking about her keeps me going’ (III.I.75). Therefore, Ferdinand’s love towards Miranda must be real, he expressed his feelings towards her in many different manners, whether it was him thinking about her to keep him going or him even sacrificing breaking his back rather than allowing Miranda to help carry the logs. Ferdinand’s loving nature illustrates a varied understanding to the way him and Miranda’s realistic love is shaped.

The relationship between Miranda and Ferdinand is likely not realistic as the instant “love affair” aspect in first sight is not common. Particularly relationships that are like this are very rare as Miranda stated “(to herself) Why is my father speaking to him so rudely? This is the third man I’ve ever seen in my life, and the first one I’ve felt romantic feelings for. I hope my father takes pity on me and treats him well for my sake!” (Shakespeare Act 1, Scene II, 21). Miranda knowing that she had a bad connection with another male (Caliban), she just obliterates the idea of it and fell in love with a random man she didn't even meet. Not only that, Miranda was amazed by Ferdinand, though he was the 3rd man she has seen in her life. Realistically, people would be more eager to see others, but Miranda just instantly knew this was the man she wanted to marry. Relating it to relationships in reality, people do not instantly fall in love at first glance, as it takes quality time for people. Though, Ferdinand had seen other women, and had more experience in relationships, “I’ve looked at many ladies with pleasure, and been seduced by the sweet nothings they said to me. I’ve liked several women for their good qualities, but there was something wrong with each one that blotted her excellent qualities and cancelled them out. But with you it’s different” (Act 3, I, III) This still does not change the fact of that they both still don’t know each other that well. When they claimed to be “in love” they only knew how they looked, meaning they fell in love with their physical attributes. This relationship portrayed in the book is very ambiguous, as the affair happened too quickly, they only knew each other from how they look, and that is then not considered love.

Act 3 Scene 1

The love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand is unrealistic due to highly unlikely chances of falling in love at first sight and the dramatic, destiny - like progression of relationship. In Act 3 scene 1, Miranda tells Ferdinand “But I wouldn’t wish for any man in the world except you”, when she has never seen any other man outside the island. It was also only the first they they have met. Then in Act 3 scene 1 again, Miranda says “Stop being shy! I’ll marry you want me to be your wife, if not, I’ll still love you.” Miranda is already thinking about getting married, which is a unwise decision, considering she does not know Ferdinand very well other than his outer looks. Miranda even shows tears claiming that she doesn’t deserve Ferdinand. This act shows the abnormal progression of positive feelings towards each other. Therefore, the love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand is unrealistic with Miranda’s hurried attraction towards Ferdinand and over exaggerated expression for Miranda.

Miranda and Ferdinand have an unrealistic relationship, which goes too fast and does not take the proper time to develop. When Ferdinand first lays eyes on Miranda he immediately falls in love with her, saying “This must surely be the goddess that the music is being played for” (I.ii.417 - 418). From when he first saw her he thinks she’s a “goddess”. In his eyes, her stunning beauty and the music that seemed to be leading towards her made her seem more divine. This entrances him and overcomes reason and rationality. Here he is displaying his admiration for Miranda, with her beauty making him think that she must be a great woman. He does not know her at all, so it is illogical for him to be admiring Miranda, who he just met. Later in the same scene, he also says "Oh, if you’re a virgin, and you haven’t given your heart to another man, then I’ll make you the queen of Naples.” (I.ii.444 - 446). Without knowing anything about her he is proposing to a woman he does not know, and being of a royal status marriage is more critical, as when a king is married, he is now sharing his kingdom. He is willing to share a recently gained kingdom, with a woman that may be untrustworthy. He has not taken the time to find out if she is worthy of his trust, or if he’s the kind of woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with. In Act 3 Scene 1 Ferdinand is seen carrying logs and then he says to himself "This hard work would be boring and nasty to me, but I’m working for a mistress who makes me enjoy my labor.” (III.i.4 - 6). Here Ferdinand is willing to put sweat and tears into trying to earn the love of a woman he does not know. He has demoted himself to a slave, carrying out Prospero’s commands in hopes to spend his life with the girl he just met. He is the king’s son, so it isn’t far-fetched to believe he has little to no labor of this sort in his life up to that point, yet the book says that he is willing to do it for a woman he met only a few hours prior. Therefore, this is unrealistic, as he as not gotten to know her whatsoever and bases his entire opinion on his first impressions, that were influenced by her beauty. The Tempest does not display a realistic relationship, with Miranda and Prospero getting married the evening of the day they met.
- Ishaq

The love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand does not seem rational when applied to the real world. First, when one takes a glance at Act I Scene II Miranda and Ferdinand fall In love too quickly and Prospero is quick notice this saying "They're in love, but it's happening too quickly. I must slow things down." (I, ii) The sentence stating that Prospero must slow things down must indicate that he and his magic are behind Miranda and Ferdinand falling in love, which could not be applied into the real world due to magic not existing. Also in Act III Scene III when Miranda goes out to visit Ferdinand they start talking about how they admire each other to the point that they want to get engaged in just one day of seeing each other for the first time. If this were correlated to the real world, even if it were love at first sight, they would still need to get to know each other and build trust. Therefore the love between Ferdinand and Miranda is not realistic because they were too quick to fall in love, didn't build trust and already wanted to get engaged.

The growing love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand seems rather unrealistic and childlike. Ferdinand’s love for Miranda is mere attraction, as he confessed “For several virtues have I like several women. Never any with so full soul but some defect in her did quarrel with the noblest grace she owed and put it to the foil” (III.i.43-46). Miranda is not the first women Ferdinand has known; he was the prince and that position came with privileges. He knows nothing about Miranda and not had a chance yet to connect to her emotionally; her looks must attract him to her. The goddess aura around Miranda, the first time they saw each other, could encourage Ferdinand’s attraction towards her. And Ferdinand is the first man, other than Prospero, Miranda has ever encountered. Miranda is known to be innocent due to her lack of experience and exposure. Prior acknowledging Miranda’s beauty, Ferdinand perceived the music he heard upon their first meeting, through his grief: “He does hear me, and that he does I weep… The king my father wracked” (I.ii.428-431). The topic of the first conversation between Miranda and Ferdinand was about his realisation of the leadership awaiting him in place of his ‘dead’ family, and Miranda seemed to be empathising with him. Offering him comfort. One of the things most needed while grieving is support to prevent further damages, and Miranda was giving it to him. Ferdinand had heightened emotions, thinking he was the only survivor of the tempest, and Miranda’s compassion eased him. Although their love might be heartfelt, it is equally as unrealistic, lacking practicality especially considering Ferdinand’s responsibilities, and rushed because of their circumstances.

Miranda and Ferdinand's relationship in Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” is unrealistic. Miranda falls in love instantly after seeing Ferdinand, despite her father being the only man she remembers. Miranda has never had exposure to any men in her life to form opinions on what she is looking for in a husband. When Ferdinand flatters her, she says “I’ve never known any woman or seen a woman’s face—except my own in the mirror. And I’ve never met any men besides you and my father. I have no idea what people look like in other places, but I swear by my modesty, which I value above everything else, that I’d never want any companion in the world but you.” (III.i. 3). Her love for him seems rushed, she knows that she has not had any experience with any people outside of the island, and has no idea how they act. She also says that she would not want any companion other than Ferdinand, however she doesn't know anyone else in this world, making her point biased. Her isolation from the rest of mankind has inhibited her ability to find out what she wants in a husband. Yet, she still wants to be with him. Ferdinand also says “I’ve liked several women for their good qualities, but there was something wrong with each one that blotted her excellent qualities and cancelled them out. But with you it’s different. You’re perfect,” (III.i. 3). He explains that he has had past experience with womens’ personalities, and says Miranda’s is better than any others. This can not be accurate, because Ferdinand had just arrived onto the island, and has not gotten to know Miranda at all. Thus, what Miranda and Ferdinand call true love can not be true.

The relationship that is building between Miranda and Ferdinand is realistic love, as it includes communication and mutual feelings. Miranda’s father, Prospero, was cold-hearted towards Ferdinand and had threatened him multiple times, by saying that he would chain him up and feed him horrible food. Prospero has accused him of lying being a thief when Ferdinand first met with Miranda, protecting her from falling helplessly in love with someone who she just met. Although, when Prospero saw Ferdinand and Miranda talking, he warmed up saying, “What a pleasant meeting between two people truly in love! May heaven bless the feelings growing between them!” He felt pleasure when he saw the two lovers confess to each other, meaning that he approves of their love and he believes that there is reason behind it. Furthermore, Ferdinand was expressing the beauty and innocence that he sees in Miranda when he said “But with you it’s different. You’re perfect, without a rival in the world, made up of the best qualities of every creature.” Ferdinand expresses and straightforwardly tells her that he has seen many beautiful and stunning girls before, but every one of them had a big flaw that cancelled all of their good qualities. He sees that Miranda has no major flaws and that she the best women he has ever met, perfect. Ferdinand is expressing his feelings for Miranda with words and telling his stories to prove to her how much he loves her. Miranda was ecstatic when Ferdinand was very upfront about his love for her, and she even began to cry, “Look at me crying—what a fool I am to cry at what makes me happy.” She further explains that she finally realises the true feelings she has for him and how she would do anything to just stay with him. She then is using words to display the development of their relationship. Both Miranda and Ferdinand admire and praise each other uncovering their love for each other as they converse alone. Act 3 scene 1 is to show how their feelings are mutual and how they proposed to each other. The love that Miranda and Ferdinand have for each other keep developing to become stronger and stronger, but all in all, what they feel for each other is realistic love.

The love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand is realistic and very much possible, as in Act 3, Scene 2 Miranda and Ferdinand both declare intimate love for each
other, which is shown by their use of strong vocabulary throughout their dialogue. Miranda states “I’ve never known any woman or seen a woman’s face—except my own in the mirror. And I’ve never met any men besides you and my father. I have no idea what people look like in other places, but I swear by my modesty, which I value above everything else, that I’d never want any companion in the world but you. I can’t even imagine one.” and Ferdinand vocalizes “Oh, my dear mistress…”. Both of these pieces of evidence show how strong the love is between the two, especially because they have only known each other for a few days. They show such desperation in need for each other’s accompaniment and continuously plead to each other about how right they are for each other, while they fantasize about romance and dream about a possible future together. This leads one to believe that it would be realistic for them to fall in love, as even if Prospero wanted to separate them, he would not be able to.

A realistic love affair is an affair that develops slowly and the relationship between two people which heightens each time when its developing and it is not fast paced, the two people need to take time to notice each others similarities, and their positives and negatives. Miranda and Ferdinand’s love affair is not realistic, when they fell in love it was fast paced and instant. They saw each other and fell in love. When they first saw each other they wanted to get married, which isn’t applicable for a good, realistic relationship. It is not realistic when someone look at someone else's appearance and someone want to fall in love with them for that reason. Miranda and Ferdinand kept talking about how beautiful they were to each other and they seem like that they can see it in their eyes that they are a good person inside. When Ferdinand first saw Miranda he decided to make Miranda the Queen of Naples without hesitation “I’ll make you the Queen of Naples.” (Act 1, scene 2-The Tempest) It does not make sense when someone can see someone else's personality just by looking in their eyes, it is not possible to do that therefore proving that this is unrealistic. This was shown in Shakespeare “The Tempest” Act 3 Scene 1. Since the love affair in Shakespeare’s play “The Tempest” was unrealistically fast, the love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand is not realistic.

The love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand is realistic, and they feel strong love toward each other. First, Ferdinand weren’t mind controlled by anyone to love Miranda. Surely, Ferdinand could’ve never met Miranda if it weren’t for Ariel. He was dragged by the music done by Ariel and has been dragged to Prospero’s place. But as soon as He met Miranda, he fell love in first sight. All by his strong loving will. Even though Ariel had dragged him over, he didn’t control his mind. Also, even if he was being controlled, love is both sided. If only one feels love, it doesn’t work well. But since both Miranda and ferdinand felt love, it’s clear that the love weren’t the fake feeling. Secondly, Even when he’s a prince of a country, he was doing all the hard work that he had never done in his life, just for Miranda He says himself that he had never done such hard work, as he chomps the wood. Of course, he was raised well, not doing any hard works because he’s a royal person of a kingdom. But he accepts the hard work at once and does it just for Miranda. Apart from actions, their speech ensures that they love each other more than anything. Ferdinand thinks to himself, “I don’t mind doing this hard work because I’m doing it for the woman I love”, and he keeps on working thinking about Miranda, because he says “thinking about her keeps me going” When Ferdinand is saying all the compliments and how much he loves her, Miranda blushes and says something back. They even promised a marriage and that only can be done when they truly love each other, and through this, their love can not be fake.

The love affair between Ferdinand and Miranda is realistic, as they’re both satisfied with each other’s love. “Now, please, I beg you, don’t work so hard. I wish the lightning had burned up all those logs that you’ve been ordered to stack! Please put that log down and rest a while.” Although Miranda loves and cares about Ferdinand and feels very sorrowful for him, Ferdinand knows that in order to prove his love towards Miranda, to Prospero, he has to work very hard. “If you sit down, I’ll carry your logs a while. Please give me that. I’ll take it over to the pile.” ”No, my darling, I’d rather strain all my muscles and break my back than let you do work like this while I lounge around nearby.” Ferdinand has been working very hard to prove his love for Miranda. Miranda see’s how hard he’s working and is willing to help. As Miranda requests to help, Ferdinand immediately refuses the request, because he doesn’t want Miranda to hurt herself or get tired. This love is realistic because if Prospero knew that Ferdinand wouldn't be the right man for Miranda, he would had never brought him to the island. In (I.ii.10-11) Ariel says: “The king’s son, Ferdinand, with his hair standing straight up—it looked like reeds, not hair—was the first person to jump, shouting, “Hell is empty, and all the devils are here!” Prospero sent Ariel to start the storm, Ariel then brought Ferdinand to the kingdom, to meet Miranda. Therefore we can infer that Prospero was sure about his decision, of introducing Ferdinand to Miranda in the first place. Prospero knows that he would be very suitable for Miranda as he chose him out of all men on earth, to earn his daughter's love.

To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.

He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their Public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.

He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.

He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected, whereby the Legislative Powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.

He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.

He has obstructed the Administration of Justice by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary Powers.

He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.

He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance.

He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.

He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil Power.

He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:

For quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:

For protecting them, by a mock Trial from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:

For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world:

For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:

For depriving us in many cases, of the benefit of Trial by Jury:

For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences:

For abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into these Colonies

For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:

For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.

He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.

He has plundered our seas, ravaged our coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.

He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation, and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & Perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.

He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.

He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury.
Is the love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand realistic?

A realistic love affair is often, at least in this case, when two people naturally fall in love. Using this definition it is likely true that the love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand is not realistic. It is previously shown in the play, novel, and movie “The Tempest”, that Prospero, Miranda’s father, had commanded Ariel to allure and almost tempt Ferdinand to come to Prospero’s house. And once they met Prospero said, “It’s all happening according to plan, just as my soul wanted it to happen.” just as Miranda and Ferdinand met. Soon after, when Miranda and Ferdinand started to fall in love Prospero said, “They’ve fallen in love at first sight!—Wonderful Ariel.” All the quotes tell us that, firstly, Prospero, through various means, is controlling a large number of Miranda and Ferdinand's encounters. Which could suggest their encounters aren’t as genuine as it may seem to them. Additionally, this could lead to them experiencing feelings that aren’t very genuine either. Secondly, all of the quotes that are mentioned above are Prospero talking to himself. Considering that none of his thoughts are very positive towards Miranda and Ferdinand’s relationship this likely suggests that Prospero has an ulterior motive, that he is trying to keep hidden from Miranda and Ferdinand, that is related to Miranda and Ferdinand’s relationship. This is likely the case because of Ferdinand and Miranda’s royal status and them being married could potentially put Prospero into a more favorable situation. In conclusion, the relationship between Miranda and Ferdinand is not realistic because of Prospero’s influence.

-Rohan

Caitlin
The love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand is non realistic. The way they both quickly fall in love with each other does not describe true love. In Act III Miranda tells Ferdinand, “I don’t even know what people outside of this Island looks like. But I wouldn’t wish for any man in the world besides you”. Miranda has been so secluded from the rest of the world, that she does not know what humans are like, and how one must act. Her reaction to Ferdinand’s flirtatious behaviors, would have probably been the same to any other male. Ferdinand, on the contrary, has been out in the world and experienced a lot in his life; but he fell in love with Miranda’s looks and does not truly know her. Furthermore, when Miranda proposes to Ferdinand and says, “I’ll be your wife if you’ll have me.” (III. i. 82, 83). This is obviously not the right thing to do. They were moving too fast into their relationship, they were not even able to properly get introduced. The couple’s tone towards each other was always accepting and forgiving. True love requires patience and knowledge in order to be successful.

Are Trinculo and Stephano serious about killing Prospero? Nadim

Stephano and Trinculo are serious about killing Prospero. While Stephano and Trinculo are drinking some wine, Caliban suggests an idea to kill Prospero by taking away his books, and Stephano is engaged with his idea because he says “Go on” and “Go ahead” even though he was drunk. These quotes prove that Stephano granted the idea, and wanted to put it to action because he wanted his own kingdom “a wonderful kingdom for me". He also was engaged because Caliban brings up that Prospero’s daughter “... is very beautiful. You can marry her and have beautiful children”. He also plans ahead after he kills Prospero and says “We’ll be King and Queen, and you and Trinculo will be governors”. Stephano and Trinculo are also serious about killing Prospero because they are singing and celebrating and they think they have already won. “Play tricks and jokes, play jokes and tricks. Thoughts are free”. These sentences proves they are confident that they will kill Prospero and make this island “a wonderful kingdom for me. He could have also celebrated because he would not have to work as a butler anymore, and he is very selfish because he doesn’t want to include Trinculo in his glory. Therefore, the confident actions of Trinculo, Stephano, and Caliban, especially Stephano and Caliban, prove that they are serious about killing Prospero using Caliban’s plan about taking away his magic books, and want to make their own kingdom and have freedom.

Ali Motamedi
Miranda and Ferdinand’s love affair would be very unlikely to have happened in real life. Miranda and Ferdinand are part of a gimmick Shakespeare uses in his plays called love at first sight. Shakespeare uses this gimmick in other plays such as "Romeo And Juliet", to array the absurdity of his characters. People are complex and it takes time to truly know a person’s intentions, hobbies, and lifestyle. Miranda says “Someone this handsome can’t be evil.”- Shakespeare’s “The Tempest" page 42 act two scene one, Proving that she believes that the way a person looks translates to how good their intentions are, which makes no logical sense. Miranda fell in love with Ferdinand, because Ferdinand is the only real male human-being she has ever seen, other than her father. If two people through some sort of miracle, did fall in love at first sight, a great deal of luck would be needed for the relationship to maintain healthiness and happiness for a long period of time. Real human-beings are complex, and you can not just know whether they are a good person or not just by looking at them. Love at first sight working in real life is very improbable and would be very difficult to maintain.

Miranda and Ferdinand's love affair is genuine and realistic. This is demonstrated in “The Tempest” at the start of Act 3, when Ferdinand is chopping the wood, and Miranda looks anxious. “I’ll carry the log’s for a while’” says Miranda and Ferdinand says “ NO! I’d rather break my back then allow you to do it” this crystallizes that both of them are deeply in love. Ferdinand whispers that “thinking about her keeps me going” this expresses Ferdinand trying to get Miranda. Miranda expresses love towards Ferdinand and vice versa, Ferdinand mentions that he admires Miranda. Miranda and Ferdinand want to get married, and Prospero is happy as well. Ferdinand actually loves Miranda you can see that when Ferdinand says “I do not mind working hard for the women I love” this shows that Ferdinand admires Miranda. . They love each other so much they are about to get married which shows their love is realistic.

The love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand is not realistic in terms of 21st-century lives. Firstly the love affair began with “love at first sight”, this way to fall in love is unrealistic, hence the word first, Miranda and Ferdinand had never met before, yet as soon as they gazed at each other, in act 1 scene 2, they fell in love, even by not knowing anything about each other. Although Prospero keeps them away so that their love is existent and it can thrive, this love is really unlikely to happen in real life, due to the fact that Miranda has been isolated from the real world as she says in act 3 scene 1 “I don’t even know what people out of this island look like”, so her love towards Ferdinand is just a fantasy since he is the only other human she has seen in her life, and all she does is get flattered by him. A love in the real world scenario would take a while to develop and flourish, this relationship is childish, and too perfect, just as the first question he asks her is “Are you a goddess or a maiden?” then all after Prospero drags him away he says “I’ll make you queen of Naples”, in act 1 scene 2, Ferdinand says these things because he sees Miranda as beautiful and gorgeous, but this happens when hey just met which means they have not properly known each other, therefore having this relationship be a fantasy book and not as realistic as any love affair in the real world.

The love between Miranda and Ferdinand is very unrealistic. Miranda and Ferdinand fall in love in the mere seconds in which they meet each other. Without knowing anything about each other, they demonstrate great sacrifice for each other. In Act 1 Scene 2, Prospero intended on slowing down their love for each other by not permitting Ferdinand to move. Prospero used his magic to put Ferdinand in a trance which prohibited him from moving. Miranda thought she could stop her father from doing any more harm. In turn, Miranda sacrificed herself for Ferdinand by standing between him and her father, however her father shoved her away; giving him enough time to stop Ferdinand. Ferdinand also made a sacrifice when he agreed to carry the wood. Ferdinand, being a prince and soon to be king, would never be carrying wood for anyone, however Miranda is special to him and is worth such sacrifice from his perspective. Miranda and Ferdinand made sacrifices for each other that are extreme and unfit for people who have just met each other. With that, they have declared their love for each other and decided to get married. Marriage is a very important decision and it is not realistic to get married to someone that one has known for only a few hours. Marriage can shape someone's whole life which is why the decision needs to be thought through, which they have not done. Although their love for each other seems true in the story, in real life, love at first sight is not real. Also, when people meet someone new, it is very difficult to know that they love them enough to marry them right away. Love at first sight was a myth and Act 3 Scene 1 only proves it to be more unrealistic.

The love affair between these two characters is realistic. Ferdinand's way of speaking to Miranda is one he would not use with any other girl that is known of in the story. The word “admired!” how he used it to define her name and how he said how she was “indeed admired, more than anything else in the world! I’ve looked at many ladies with pleasure…” he uses these words while explaining how Miranda was different to the other girls that he has encountered. The way he explains the rest of his quote or line he explains how different and how special she is to him. For example, the word admire is a word where respect is shared between them this shows that Ferdinand does respect Miranda for who she is and that he truly does love her by the speech he gave her. Miranda later asks “Do you love me?” and those are very strong words to use or a hard question to answer. Then Ferdinand begins to express his feelings towards Miranda “Oh heaven, oh earth, witness what I’m about to say, and reward me if I tell the truth! If I’m lying, then destroy all my prospects in life! More than anything else in the world, I love you, value you, and honor you.”. Ferdinand further explains his love for her saying that if he was lying all his prospects in life shall be destroyed when she asks him “do you love me?” then he goes on and tells her that if he was telling the truth he shall get rewarded. Then Ferdinand asks Miranda a question “You’ll be my wife, dearest, and I’ll serve you forever.” she responds with “Will you be my husband, then?”. This shows true love because their way of speech in the story and they have this sort of bond within a couple of days of knowing each other and they have a connection where they know how much they love each other and they want to marry? each other. The love affair is realistically shown by their feelings.

Act 3 Scene 1 Body paragraph: Is the love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand realistic? Why or Why not?
The love between Miranda and Ferdinand was not realistic, it was lust. The first time Miranda and Ferdinand are beside the beach, they both fell in love when they first meet each other, “Is it a ghost, It’s very handsome”, “Are you a Goddess or a Maiden?” (I.ii 38-40). Miranda did not know what man looks like, this causes the first time she meets Ferdinand and started to have good feelings for Ferdinand, especially in her memory, she had not seemed other human except Prospero. She did not know what she is looking for in a husband. Ferdinand was the king’s son, which means there was some beautiful female around him, and he knew that he is looking for a wife. He was just amazed at how beautiful is Miranda. Therefore, what Ferdinand feels for Miranda is not love is lust. Miranda and Ferdinand fell in love at first sight, but they both did not even know each very well. It is hard to say if one has found true love, you have to spend time, fate and looking. This kind love is called lust, not realistic love.

The love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand is not realistic because the relationship is moving inordinately fast, and the lack of male figures in her life, up until this point, affecting Miranda’s perspective. When first meeting Ferdinand, Miranda speaks with him and starts to immediately fall in love with him, and hours later, confessing her love. Prospero recognizes this when saying, “Poor worm, thou art infected! This visitation shows it.” (III.i.32-33) On the political side, the union of Miranda and Ferdinand was normal in the Elizabethan era, so the relationship would not strike odd then. But, looking at the relationship in the modern day time, it does look to be moving fast, making the relationship strike unrealistic. Miranda’s choice of falling in love with Ferdinand also is influenced by the lack of male figures in her life, besides her father. Miranda supports this when going on to say, “Nor have I seen more that I may call men than you, good friend, and my dear father. How features are abroad I am skill-less of, but, by my modesty, the jewel in my dower, I would not wish any companion in the world but you, nor can imagination form a shape besides yourself to like of.” (III.i.50-57). Because she grew up in solitude on an island, Miranda doesn’t have any man to base an opinion off of what kind what might strike her to be with forever. The love affair amid Miranda and Ferdinand is not traditional to modern day as the relationship is moving too fast along and Miranda has had a lack of male figure in her life, up until now.

I learned I found it difficult to explain myself and put my thoughts into words on a page while still making it organized and easy for others to understand, and need to make sure I pay attention to the details such as the formal writing tools.

The relationship between Miranda and Ferdinand is important because for Miranda, she needs to discover herself as a human being, who and what she really is and to see the real point of love. But as for Prospero, he already is forcing the love to come to between one another. In this scene, Miranda does not show the true meaning of love because she needs to learn how to love one as a person, to learn more of the other and oneself as well. Love is strong, but not strong enough to carry two lovers that do not know the realness of love. The both need to take their time, so that love will be built healthily and will last forever. Miranda is very dramatic with her sense of love, due to the fact that she has never seen a man before, other than her father. She and Ferdinand, both have found love, but need to use it wisely. When Miranda responds to Ferdinand’s words, “I don’t even know what people outside this island look like”, she says this, because she realizes too that her love with Ferdinand is not as real as it can be since Ferdinand is the only young man she has seen before. Even though, Miranda and Ferdinand are not the traditional couple, they both are starting to learn the meaning of true love, that could soon build up into a healthy relationship.

The act between Trinculo and Stephano was an impulsive decision that would take effect. Firstly, Caliban explains to Stephano that if Prospero is killed, Stephano could become king of the island. Also, he tells Stephano he could marry Prospero's daughter and that they could have children together. Stephano responds to that by saying Trinculo and Caliban can become governors of the island. Caliban might have put an image into Stephano’s mind that they would want to happen. Caliban could also be saying all of that so he would not have to follow any of Prospero’s commands anymore. In addition, Caliban knows that Prospero is stronger and more powerful than him due to his magic books. So, Caliban tells Stephano and Trinculo to take his magic books while he is sleeping to kill him then. Doing this would weaken Prospero, giving Stefano a fair fight against him which allows him to kill Prospero. Therefore, Stephano and Trinculo’s impulsive decision lead them to making up a fantasy life which is only at the cost of Prospero’s life.

Is the love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand realistic? Why or why not?

Miranda and Ferdinand are true lovers. They fall in love when they both meet each other for the first time. In Act 3 scene 1, Ferdinand said he doesn’t mind chopping the logs because he is working for a woman that he loves. Ferdinand is the king’s son, so he usually doesn’t do work like this, but he is willing to do the things that servants do for Miranda. In Act 3 scene 1 Ferdinand asked Miranda’s name while she wants him to stop working. He wants to spend his whole life with the woman he just met, although he even does not know her name. Ferdinand also doesn’t care about his kingdom. He is willing to share the country with Miranda, even though she is now poor because her father and she were kicked out from the kingdom. Even when Ferdinand falls in love with her, his father -Alonso- may not agree, because in Act 5 scene 1 “Prospero said to Alonso he treated him and his daughter badly.” Ferdinand and Miranda’s love is real. Ferdinand is willing to give everything to Miranda and do anything for her.
                                                                                                                                   - Ding

The love between Miranda and Ferdinand is not realistic. The ship was drowning and Prospero had told Aerial to put them in different parts of the island and in groups and the king’s son Ferdinand alone. Aerial said “I’ve scattered the people in groups around the island as you ordered.” “The king’s son is alone.” There was music and Ferdinand followed it. When the Aerial bought Ferdinand to Prospero and Miranda they fell in love with each other. There love is not real because it is just a plan to make them fall in love with each other and the plan is made by Prospero.

Love on first sight is not realistic, because in the play “The Tempest” By William Shakespeare, Miranda had never seen another human other than her father since they were trapped in the island. So she hasn't seen another male in her life other than Caliban. “You think he is special, but the only man you’ve ever seen are him and caliban” This proves that Miranda has only met one other human in her life, which wouldn't make any sense. She wouldn't know what she would want in a husband because she has not seen what other qualities men have to offer.

The love between Miranda and Ferdinand is very attaching and flowing. Miranda’s father wanted to see if Ferdinand is worthy of Miranda. He puts Ferdinand through tests. Prospero orders Ferdinand to go and chop logs. Ferdinand did not care because he knows he was doing it for his love. “I do not mind doing all of this hard work because I am doing it for the woman I love”. This proves that the relationship between Miranda and Ferdinand is realistic. Ferdinand proves that he will do anything for Miranda no matter how hard the task is. He puts his love for Miranda in front of other matters. Ferdinand and Miranda are meant to be together. Their relationship is very strong and realistic.

Miranda and Ferdinand’s love affair is realistic as he worked for Miranda, to prove that he truly loved her. In Act 3 Scene 1 Prospero commands Ferdinand to work, by bringing wood, to prove that he truly loves Miranda, this act happened because Prospero believes that true love is a hard thing to attain so to test if he truly loved Miranda his daughter he put him to the test wich is working in the heat and carrying his logs under the heat as a prince. Prospero believes that their love is true too , “Heaven bless their love for each other” which comes to show that even if he believes that their love is going too fast he does see that they are truly in love. There is true love for her since he is ok with being enslaved as prince to work, to prove his true love. As this is the first time that she meets another human, she does not know what to think at first, but as they talk she says “I wouldn’t wish any man in the world other than you.” They truly are in love as they want to get married soon after they spend time with each other.

The romantic affair between Miranda and Ferdinand is not realistic because of their lack of interaction with one another. To begin, while Ferdinand was holding the logs he says, “Thinking about her keeps me going.” As he has just met her, Ferdinand has not known her long enough to be able to say that with reason. Ferdinand could be able to make a remark like that if it was about her looks. Ferdinand and Miranda have claimed that they are each others and that they shall get married. By them choosing to become Husband and wife so soon, it does not show what a realistic relationship looks like. Regularly most people announce their love for eachother a while before they decide to be wedded. Therefore, they have shown what an unrealistic relationship does look like.

The relationship between Ferdinand and Miranda is unrealistic. Similar things happen in real life does not exist. When Ferdinand and Miranda met for the first time, they fell in love at first sight. Ferdinand said, "This must surely be the goddess that the music is being played for." We look for unrealistic from what he says. Ferdinand said Miranda was his goddess, but they just met for the first time. I don't know each other at all. In my opinion, Ferdinand was only a great goddess because Miranda was beautiful. That's the unrealistic point. It's not realistic, and Ferdinand's only reason to identify Miranda as a goddess is simply because of her beauty. The storm did not show the most realistic.

The love affair between Miranda and Ferdinand was very unrealistic and childish. First of all, Ferdinand and Miranda have only met for one minute and they are already in love without doing anything. Secondly, Miranda is overreacting about Ferdinand chopping wood. Chopping wood is hard but not so hard to the point that Miranda would over exaggerate so much about it. After that, out of nowhere Miranda starts crying because she thinks that she does not deserve him. Then, it escalated very quickly, to the point that they already agree about marrying each other. One of the reasons that may explain why this love affair is very childish is that Miranda does not know what people outside this island look like, thus she has never interacted with another man in her age. Lastly, the way Miranda and Ferdinand interacted with each other showed how childish and unrealistic their “love affair” was.
