Cluster teacher

Would love to see a SS cluster teacher, as this is the one subject that falls to the waistside. Even though HMH does have SS aspects to it, it is not the NYS standards for SS.

Indoor recess

Go back to open school night in person; such a different feeling getting to know the parents face to face in the beginning of the year and making that connection

Examples: 5th graders helping pre-k & kindergarten during lunch (bringing Ss to the bathroom etc.) Recess leaders in charge of stations. Ss helping PTA sell snacks. Student Tech Team.

Push in services

I would love to have some related services (OT, speech, ENL) push into the classroom some of the time instead of taking them. Students would come back lost during the lesson and would need to catch up.

School wide Fun Friday

Some teachers in the building incorporate fun and learning last period on Fridays. This allows teachers and students to connect and see each others' personalities. This will also increase attendance.

Do we really need to collect the report cards from the parents? As a parent I want to keep them. A lot of the kids don't have printers at home. There are online if we need them.

Nurse information slip

Prior to Covid anytime a student went to the nurses office they returned to the classroom with a information slip that was filled out by the nurse that they were seen: date, time, reason and if the parent was contacted. The nurse always contacted the parent and sent the form home with the student. The form was sent home in the red folder for parents to have for reference to follow up at the doctor or with the nurse.

Having the nurse send down a little notice with the child "I was seen by the nurse today because ____ " Sometimes the nurse doesn't call home then the parents are asking why their child went to the nurse during lunch/recess/prep so the teachers arent sure of the answer.

Meet the teacher

I would like a meet the teacher night for sometime in september where a parent can come in and see the classroom and discuss the upcoming year. Getting to meet the parents face to face is the beginning of great relationships
