Loved this book! It is about 2 sisters who live in France while it is occupied by the Nazis during World War II. One sister just wants to live quietly in her house with her daughter while her husband is away at war and and the other sister wants to join the revolution. The way the sister's stories are weaved together is amazing.

The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf

I am rereading this book for the second time...that's how good it is. I love all of Heather Gudenkauf's books, she grew up in Iowa and all her books are set in fictional towns in Iowa. In this story, one summer morning two little girls have gone missing. Each chapter is told from the perspective of each character involved (including both girls) and clues emerge of what happened to the girls. I love how the depth of the story increases as you learn each characters involvement in the girls lives.

I just finished reading A House in the Sky, & oh my lanta it was a good book. It’s a autobiography/memoir about a woman who finds her love of traveling, & uses photography & journalism around the world to fund her trips. While traveling to Somalia, she & another journalist are kidnapped for 400+ days. She retells her experience & her attempts of escape in a very real way. I don’t want to give it away, but it’s a great book! I also hear that they are in the process of making it into a movie, so you’ll have to check it out before the movie hits theaters!

Several hours on Amtrak on my return home from the park gave me a great opportunity to read this book that I picked up on my travels. Certainly is one that kept my interest. I picked it up due to my curiosity as well as my intrigue of watching people do stupid things but get by with them~this was not the case for some people. Great read! If you plan to hit the park let me know and you can read it before you go instead of after like me. PS: I also have a similar title for Yellowstone.

This is a true story (biography) of the third richest man in American History (in the early 1900's)- W.A.Clark who was in the copper mining business and when he died he left his fortune to his daughter Huguette Clark (she lived to be 105 in 2011). The story is a great historical read and so interesting how the family spent their fortune. They also had all these mansions in the U.S. that basically sat unfurnished for most of the time.
(Kerri Johnson)

This is the second book in a trilogy by Richard Paul Evans. The first book "The Broken Road" lays the foundation for this one. Charles James is a self made millionaire by way of cheating people out of money. However as he has been doing this he has literally lost everything that was important to him (wife, son, etc.). Thanks to a recurring dream and a devastating event he decides to travel Route 66 by foot from Chicago to California. This book introduces us to the people he meets and the challenging circumstances he faces from Chicago to Amarillo, Texas. Now the wait begins until Mr. Evans releases the third and final chapter to this trilogy "The Road Back".
