Ali starts as a typical Western teenager but then becomes more religious and devout, rejecting his previous lifestyle. He grows a beard and distances himself from Western culture, including his girlfriend and friends.

Ali becomes a devout Muslim, criticizing Western values. He views his father's lifestyle as immoral and sinful.

Alis transformation leads to conflicts with his father.

Bettina is understanding, supportive, and non-judgmental. She listens to Parvez’s concerns and gives him an advice on how to handle his son's behavior.

She has a caring relationship with Parvez, often providing him with emotional support and advices. She is a very good person and only has good intentions towards Parvez and his son, she just wants to help them. Their relationship, however, becomes a point of tension between Parvez and Ali.
