This commercial was created with lots of humor appeal behind it which is what lead it to also be so popular, in fact Hyundai's commercial was rated the best commercial for the 2016 Superbowl. Hyundai was definitely trying to appeal to the parents of teenage kids with this commercial. I really do believe that there are parents out there that would do what Kevin hart did in this commercial, maybe just not so extreme. The agency that created this ad, INNOCEAN Worldwide, really did a great job with showing the world this innovative car with a humorous spin.

Odd Brand: Otterbox

Otterbox, a known brand among many Americans, although if you didn't know the brand most would be curious as to what it would be for. Well for those that don't know Otterbox is a company that produces some of the sturdiest phone cases on the market. This brand targets those that like to keep their phone in good condition, those that are accident prone people that can't seem to hold onto their device. When you think of a brand name that sells sturdy reliable phone cases, cute little otters don't come to mind, yet that is just what attracts consumers. From experience odd names seem to make people want to know more about the company. So kudos to Otterbox who built their brand from the ground up with such an odd name.

Consumer Buying Trend Ad: Health Emphasis

Lipton is going for the health emphasis trend in this 'Green is the new Black' ad. According to pg. 72 in the , Integrated advertising, Promotions, and Marketing Communications, textbook "many consumers are trying to develop a balanced lifestyle...", which has been a concern to many Americans but within the past 10-15 years has been brought to light. Now with the changing culture Americans have become more focused with their young appearance, which to me seems to be the reason for the rise in this trend. With this ad, Lipton is giving a healthier alternative to the usual sugar packed breakfast drink, coffee. The ad is encouraging people to see that Green Tea is a lighter, healthier alternative. In my opinion Lipton is a genius for this ad, stats show that 83% of Americans drink coffee daily, they are appealing to that many Americans by simply showing a healthy alternative that has the same effect. I don't think they could have done any better, I don't even drink coffee but seeing this ad makes me want to go buy green tea to have something to drink in the morning.

Tides product positioning strategy seems to be focusing on product attributes because they're focusing on setting the brand apart from others with this commercial (Clow, Baack 2014 p.104). I think it's pretty effective because now when someone watches any kind of commercial and sees clean clothes they are going to think of this commercial. Tide is showing that if clothes are clean and crisp the wearers have to be using tide laundry detergent. I Don't think that they changed strategies, in my opinion they merely took it up a notch to make their brand stand out and be more recognizable.

This image found on https://blogclowbaack.net/ depicts visual esperanto, because the image is stronger than words. The couple in the image could show happiness within a couples life. The word happiness is different in everyone's mind but this image is what some see when they think of happiness. I do think this image is effective because you can just look at it and tell that they are happy in this point of their lives. It appealed to me because this is the kind of happiness to strive for one day. To be old and with someones who just wants to capture the good moments to keep them as long as they can. The book states "images are more powerful than verbal descriptions and can transcend cultural differences" (Clow, Baack, 2014 p.126). I completely agree, because even without verbal descriptions describing the photo we are still able to see what is happening.

CH 6: Magazine Ad

This ad in People's magazine uses the cognitive message strategy. According to the textbook this strategy "influences a persons beliefs and knowledge... by suggesting one of a variety of potential product benefits" (Clow, Baack 2014 p. 155). This Aveeno ad is stating that by using their product you will have healthier skin. Aveeno used the emotional appeals by showing that you will feel more beautiful if you use their product. Those that feel insecure about themselves can try this lotion and see the difference that they feel. On page 168 of the textbook it states that "emotional appeals are used to capture the attention and foster an attachment" (Clow, Baack 2014). By adding the three pictures on the left the company is making sure that the audience knows their skin could look flawless and new with just one use. I would say the executional framework used would be Slice-of-Life, because unhealthy skin is a problem and with the help of Aveeno they can help you get healthy skin and regain confidence all in one. I would say they created a good combination with this ad because most people want to feel confident and if they see actual proof that it works they will be willing to go out and buy the product.

This ad found in the Dallas Morning News Newspaper is a perfect example of what most newspaper ads look like. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing has a some advantages by putting an advertising like this in the paper some of which include, special features response and geographic selectivity. By distributing these coupons the company is making sure that their name is known and they are making sure that those in the area are aware of their business. By putting the coupons in the Dallas paper they are reaching their target audience which allows them to reach more of their audience in an easier way. The disadvantages are also very prominent, short life span, aging readership, and clutter. If you look closely you can see the coupon does have an expiration date which can be tricky if someone receives the paper late for some reason and doesn't get the chance to use to coupon. As well as those that read the paper now are increasing in age, the people that read the paper see tons of coupons which makes them disengage when they see some like this. This ad most likely works because we all love to be able to save some money on expenses that can be costly. One way the advertiser could avoid clutter is by trying to get the ad bigger than those featured around it or even try to get it on a page where it stands alone against the other ads.

As stated in the textbook "emails should offer subscribers something useful that meets their needs or interest" (Clow, Baack 2014 p. 241), which what DSW has managed to do. I receive their emails monthly and they always are coupons to use on my next purchases which is what is what I use whenever i go shopping. These emails work for me because I don't get bombarded with tons of emails and the ones that I do get save me money. I don't know of anyone that wouldn't want to save money and get new shoes

This ad that was put out, on social media, by my apartment complex, is an example of content seeding. The textbook states content seeding "provides incentives for consumers to share content about the brand" (Clow, Baack 2014 p. 263), which is exactly what they are doing by providing a backpack to one lucky winner. In order to qualify for the bag one must like the photo, and tag three friends, which is the equivalent of sharing on Instagram, and then they must follow which allows this complex to get there name out there. I always compete in these free give away promotions because I always think i can win. This social media strategy works for them because they are always having college students coming in and out and with these type of promos they are able to show that they are interactive with there residents and do little things for them which is appealing to the average college student. Not only that they post a picture of the winner which shows that they do give the prize away to someone, which makes me people want to participate.

Cover girl presented this ad for their new line of mascara that was soon to launch, next to this gate crossing, symbolizing the brush. They managed to get across a message with very little expense and get it to a wide range audience. One way that guerrilla marketing is utilized is by " using alternative tactics and venues to focus on finding unique ways of doing things" (Clow, Baack, 2014 pg.284), which is what Cover Girl has managed to do.

This is an example of direct email marketing. The Bath and Body works ad that you see in this photo is a direct email that I received showing their specials that were going on. In my opinion this ad is very effective because every time these candles go on sale I have to go and buy them. The textbook states that internet emails are beneficial because " consumers can directly respond to the advertisements on a website"( Clow, Baack 2014 pg.323), which is exactly what I did when I saw this ad. With this email it was as simple as clicking the picture and it took me to the company's website, where I was able to purchase my products. Bath and Body's direct email tactics strengthen my relationship with them, because they are always showing me deals and are efficient when it comes to finding me what I like.

Coupons the number one promotion that people are looking foe whenever they go anywhere to get discount prices. This ad is an example of coupons that Walmart offers to its consumers. the textbook states that a coupons definition is " coupons offer a price reduction to the consumer" (Clow, Baack 2014 pg. 338), whether it be a small percentage or an actual dollar amount off they are all considered coupons. The main advantage of a coupon to a consumer is that it gives them a way to save money on items that typically use daily in their households. A main disadvantage of these coupons it that there can be some small print regulations or item limits. These types of things are what frustrates a consumer to not want to use them because sometimes the rules are more difficult then the reward from the coupon. These coupons don't necessarily strengthen or weaken my relationship with the brand because I usually have to buy these items regardless, but I will say its nice to get a sweet little surprise of saving some money.

When it comes to sponsorship's the first thing that comes to my mind is big marathon events. This here is an example of the sponsors and their level of contribution to the Susan G Coleman breast cancer walk. I would consider this as an event sponsorship marketing, all of these companies donated money to the charity marathon walk where the money was pulled together to create an event and donate to the foundation to find a cure. The textbook defines sponsorship marketing as " the company that pays money to sponsor someone, a group or an event" (Clow, Baack 2014 pg.377), which is exactly what each of these companies are doing. Now in this ad you can see the break up of who were the top sponsors with gold and silver sponsors. This partnership enhances these brands because it allows consumers to see they are willing to donate to worthy causes. I think these companies along with the Susan G Coleman foundation did a great job from first hand experience, if anything the only recommendation I would have is to make the top sponsors better known for their contributions.
