During the past years that I've studied in a public school named General Pio Del Pilar National High School, which is located near Rockwell Malls inside Barangay Poblacion, I've witnessed poverty at its finest through conducting groupings in various places since my classmates' residences are randomly distributed throughout the city. I can still recall the places I traversed around Guadalupe have so many children frantically running around, searching for jeeps wherein they can do "sabit" or "angkas" so as to be able to go home because they do not have any pennies to spend. Additionally, the houses I've seen around the abovementioned area are very dirty from the perspective of a bourgeoisie and a lot of sidewalks are matted black; like charcoal itself. People there live in tattered houses with foundations which look like they would collapse once a strong gust of wind or a storm passes by. Another place I passed by that I can still remember back when classes were still conducted face-to-face during my senior high years is Barangay Tejeros. There are lots of people living in the same condition which I've mentioned earlier, and some of them earn their living by selling secondhand clothes and street foods in the streets. Even the back of Puregold Makati located in that barangay has lots of such families living under unfortunate conditions; and this shows that poverty really exists in a city with high standards of living as claimed by many people.
