The iguana has eyes on the side of its head and moveable lids. It also has a well-defined snout with two nostrils and the mouth is short and thick. Dangling beneath the chin is a throat fan or "dewlap". The iguana is well equipped for speed and climbing with its short, thick, and powerful legs. It also has five long thin toes tipped with sharp claws. The iguana is found in warm and tropical zones and is oviparous (egg-laying).          <description><![CDATA[<div>The iguana is apart of the Chordata phylum.&nbsp;<br><br>Organisms that can be found in the Chordata phylum include: Pandas, Crows, Sharks, Salamanders, Alligators, and Sea Squirts.&nbsp;<br><br>The Chordata phylum can be organized into three subphyla: Urochordata, Cephalochordata, and Vertebrata. There are very few species who belong in the Urochordata and the Cephalochordata. Most can be found in the Vertebrata. These animals have backbones made up of cartilage and a bone with a brain enclosed in a hard skull.          <title>The Four Features of the Chordata</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The first feature is the Notochord. The notochord is a flexible rod that lies from the top to the bottom (the anteroposterior axis) of the body of the organism. It lies dorsal to the ventral and the gut to the central nervous system of the body. The chodates that have a notochord in their lifetime use it as skeletal support. In vertebrates, the notochords are replaced with a spine past the embryonic stage. It lies between the nerve code and digestive tube. In vertebrates, it has a key role in coordinating growth and development.&nbsp;<br><br>The second feature is the Dorsal Hollow Nerve Cord. The dorsal hollow nerve cord is a hollow tube derived from the ectoderm during the embryonic stages of vertebrates. It lies dorsal to the notochord. In chordates, it may be seen at the top of the notochord. It is protected by the spine. The nerve cord is not an exclsusive feature of chordates, as it is also present in other animal phyla.&nbsp;<br><br>The third feature is the Pharyngeal Slit. The openings in the region below the mouth (or oral cavity) and extends to the outside (enviroment) are called the pharyngeal slits. These slits are used by invertebrate chordates for filter feeding. In aquatic vertebrates, such as fish, the pharyngeal slits are eventually transformed into gills supports or into jaw supports. For other vertebrates, such as mammals and birds, the pharyngeal slits are present at the embryonic stage and then integrate into parts of the ear and the tonsils.&nbsp;<br><br>The fourth feature is the Post-Anal Tail. The elongation of the body that extends beyond the anus is called the post-anal tail. In aquatic chordates, the post-anal tail has skeletal elements and muscles. The post-anal tail plays a major role in enabling locomotion. Running, swimming, jumping, flying, and hopping are great examples of locomotion. In terrestrial chordates, the tail is used for balance and signaling.
