Should PhotoShopping Be Allowed?

PhotoShopping should be banned because for a lot of people especially women who are known for bad self-esteem and see beautiful (fake) women on social media when they don’t think their beautiful they way they are and even some women change themselves to look better than they already do, some women put on fake nails, fake lashes, fake hair (wigs), and put on a lot of makeup to hide thereself and some women get plastic surgery and that's okay for some stuff but there some women who wants everything to look more pretty, so what i'm trying to say is every women should be natural.

Now, I think photoshopping should be allowed for food advertisements because that’s how people sell their products and make money but at the same time you should be truthful for what your selling but in some cases you need to edit your advertisements to make money for what your selling, so my point is yes for food advertisements it shouldn’t be band.

Should Photoshop Be Banned?
This question is about photoshop in marketing, due to all the alters it can make in the advertisements overplaying it to make it seem better than the actual product, should it be banned? In marketing, the main industry that uses photoshop is the beauty industry so I will be focusing on that. Marketing has so many benefits to the beauty industry and us, it helps employment, expand companies and is overall a large part of the economy, I wouldn’t have even found half of my daily use products without it. Since photoshoots etc... have 99.9% of photoshop in them, realistically, I do not think it is even possible to ban photoshop, If we do, both the beauty and marketing would come together and come up with more creative solutions to expand their business and trick us into consuming their products, in the long run, we are simply going to get more and more fooled, our generation has become very aware of the tiniest mishaps on edits as well, a lot can tell whether a picture is photoshopped or not and due to that, It is very likely the percentage of photoshop has decreased to not damage the reputation of a company because of photoshop detectives. Overall, I do not realistically see the reasons why it should happen at all.

Using photoshop and other forms of photo-editing can make people feel insecure because they see what they think people their age should look like when it's not the reality. Companies and magazine businesses who advertise products like vitamins and other medication for elders, they tend to use photoshop to make the person look younger so people will buy their products. For example, in the Aveeno commercial with Jennifer Aniston. They purposefully used someone who looks young for their age and not only that, you can clearly tell they used photoshop and video editing to make it look appealing and attract the targeted audience. This is very smart of the people making the product but when the customer doesn't get the same outcome that is advertised it is very disappointing. This is why photoshop and other forms of photo editing should not be used for advertisements.

Photoshop is used in almost every advertisement, magazine, YouTube and Instagram. Fixing flaws then all the body as well as makeovers. Even to the point where they don't look realistic. In my opinion it should be banned because they are changing the person's real beauty into standard beauty that many teenagers and adults would want. Photoshop is bringing out other people's insecurities by making that person from a magazine what they want to look like. For example about YouTube, photoshop is often used for clickbait which is the cover of the video but once you click on that video it's not the same as the cover, it's for more people to click on the video (clout). And same goes for ads, let's say you see food from McDonalds on the ad and it actually looks good so you buy the food it doesn't look like the ad. Photoshop is unrealistic, sends out poor messages and could cause low self esteem and could cause body issues and bring out your insecurities from the people you see in magazines.

Photoshop should not be banned from advertisements. People use photoshop to get the attention of their audiences. Advertisements would be pretty boring without photoshop. You could photoshop the background of something to make it more entertaining and fun and it would probably make customers buy the product more frequently because the advertisement was entertaining. However if photoshopping was banned we couldn't really make the background entertaining. It's likely that customers wouldn’t buy the product as much as they would if it were photoshopped. Although you could make the background of advertisements entertaining and fun other ways, photoshopping is the fastest and easiest way to make the background exceptional.

Photoshop should not be banned from advertising. Many small businesses have stated by their own experience that they rely on photoshop for their advertisements because they can vastly improve sales due to the enhancements that photoshop can do. Photoshop is a vital resource to these companies and if it was taken away many small businesses would crumble due to low income. Proof of my statement is a quote from the article I have linked below, “Easy photo editing — like making adjustments to color or shadows — can make your products look more appealing, and help potential buyers see the value in your goods, without spending any extra money on the photography itself.” The author goes into detail stating how it can help any salesman, from freelance to a small business. This quote proves my point as the author states how her studies have shown the fact that photoshop can improve sales, and your business.

https://www.creativelive.com/blog/benefits-of-learning-photoshop/

Using Photoshop to brush up

the images don’t actually promote the youth to look a certain way, and nor do they encourage

teenagers to spend all their money to look good and get plastic surgeries done.

Kids don't Need to think about what they look like and what their weight is, so looking at an ad with

photoshopped images should not affect them, but for teens they might think that's how people are

supposed to look. In different countries like france it's the law for you to say it's a photoshopped

image if it is photoshopped so teens and adults would not have to worry about looking like them.

For example: if you ever looked at someone with or without makeup like cardi b before with and

without makeup you would see a big difference in their

facial features.

Photoshop should be banned because bad people could use it for catfish. My reason is that this tool can inspire a lot more pedophiles or very weird people in general to go on dating websites or social media and bait their fishes then in the end eat them. Photoshop catfish can lead to homicides, home invasions or even scammings. Research shows that some people, especially women, are being targeted in these photo shop catfishes because they are the easiest fishes to bait. This link is an example of how very weird people can easily trick anyone that’s either on dating sites or social media in general using photoshop.(https://www.shemazing.net/womans-catfishing-ordeal-goes-viral-after-major-photoshop-fail/).There are some very weird people in this world and photoshop is definitely not helping them to change their ways.

Photo editing tools can change a person’s image in the media to look thinner. Photo editing tools discourage artistic creativity.

Photo editing tools can misrepresent the product that is being sold. According to Kerry Washington, a Neutrogena creative consultant, “We don’t need digital transformations to misrepresent our products. Our products are strong, our spokespeople are proud, and we can just be out there in the world celebrating our beauty, using the products to put our best face forward, without the help of computers.”

Also, photo editing tools can change a person’s image in the media to look thinner, and this can lead to readers having unreasonable expectations of a “perfect” body.

“The ubiquity of these unrealistic and highly idealized images has been linked to eating disorders and body image dissatisfaction in men, women, and children”, according to the National Centre For Biotechnology Information (NCBI).

Finally, photo editing tools discourage artistic creativity. A professional photographer should be able to be creative and artistic with their photos by playing with colour, angles, and lighting, not use photoshop. According to ListLand, “People love going to art museums because they can see something new and creative. This is not something that has been constant with Photoshop. The creative attributes are fun, but not truly artistic. A good photographer can work with angles and colors to get the right picture, not with Photoshop. It is important to realize the difference between true artistic talent, and someone playing on their computer.”

Why shouldn't Photoshop be banned?

Point one

Photoshop should not be banned from advertisements. A lot of companies that use them would fall apart for example if a hair dye company used red hair and let's say the photographer screwed up the angle they wanted or the lightning was off they could quickly fix the lighting with photoshop. They could also fix the positioning of the model and if they were not allowed to use photoshop it would look awful and no one would buy their product.

My proof

My proof is the video of the guy talking about photoshop and he talks about how he felt. He also talks about his experiences with it. This also helps companies improve their sales for their products this also helps for there social media as in advertising or trending.

https://www.creativelive.com/blog/benefits-of-learning-photoshop/

Point two

Photoshop also benefits other companies like camping ground ones for example let's say they have a beautiful view of a sun set on a beach and the water polluted they could use photoshop and make it look good and not ugly. Or what about movie advertisements they use photoshop for the cover of their movies or on big billboards if they were banned a lot of movies would flop over because they would have no advertisements with the movie cover. For example look at this photo of an avengers movie here's the cover for an advertisement then a still image from the movie if photoshop was banned and you tell me which one looks better.

         Non Photoshopped image photoshopped image

Images

YouTube https://www.google.com/search?bih=657&biw=1366&rlz=1C1GGRV_enCA824CA824&hl=en-GB&sxsrf=ALeKk01DDoEI1p-QgttQS0jfXtZiW5yXfw%3A1607446321881&ei=Ma_PX_-nNZCt5NoPiZO9-AQ&q=avengers+endgame&gs_ssp=eJzj4tbP1TcwNDJLssguM2D0EkgsS81LTy0qVkjNS0lPzE0FAJCSCfw&oq=&gs_lcp=CgZwc3ktYWIQARgEMgcIIxDqAhAnMgcIIxDqAhAnMgcIIxDqAhAnMgcIIxDqAhAnMgcILhDqAhAnMgcIIxDqAhAnMgcIIxDqAhAnMgcIIxDqAhAnMgcIIxDqAhAnMgcIIxDqAhAnOgQIABBHUABYAGC15xBoAXACeACAAQCIAQCSAQCYAQCgAQGqAQdnd3Mtd2l6sAEKyAEIwAEB&sclient=psy-ab

Point three

We also need to remember all the people getting paid doing all the photoshop as their job if we ban photoshop a lot of those people who studied hard and spent there college/university money to get there degree in photoshop and if we just take it away from them all their hard work and money would all just go to the garbage can and if this is maybe this is a parents job and it gets banned they could lose their job.

Conclusion

So in conclusion I think photoshop should not be banned because people could lose their jobs and movies and shows could flop over.

Why photo editing tools should be banned

Photo editing tools like photoshop should be banned on advertisements because what you see on an advertisement usually isn’t exactly what you would expect to see in real life. What I can use to backup my thoughts is an example image that shows the difference between a photoshopped image and what it looks like in reality(shown below) . People normally get frustrated after things like this and demand a refund. Some companies got sued because of this and the money was used to pay back everyone who got scammed due to photoshop. The proof proves my point because it shows how on the advertisement it looks better than what it looked like in real life. This is why photo editing tools should be banned from advertisements and why people have to be more careful and be able to tell the difference between a photoshopped image and a real image.

Photoshop should not be banned because it is only a framework tool. it is not changing everything in the advertisement, they are not going to make a big change in the product like in a commercial they don’t change the color of the product, or make the product a different shape. For example makeup does not change the product, what it does is make the person’s face have the right angle and face shape for the billboard. At the bottom of the advertisement it states that you might not look as good. Some good proof that they don't change everything this dove commercial explains what they do with photoshop in commercials all they do is they make it so the face in the right spot at the right angle makes all dimensions good.

Photoshop should be banned.

Photoshop has been being used for a long time now and it's been getting a littles out of hand. When people make ads most people think that the ads they make aren't good enough when they don't use photo shop. When those people use photo shop people don't get the product the ad was meant to show. Over time people start to lose money real quick for ads that aren't even true. Yes, photo shop can be used for certain reasons like grocery ads etc. But when anything where it goes to the point where people are scamming other people for things that aren't even true, that's stepping over the line. Don't use photo shop for scamming. Use photo shop for good reasons only if you have to.

Photo editing should be banned from advertising

Photo editing should be banned for advertising because editing the photo of the product you are selling is basically lying to the customers and everyone knows it’s not good to lie. Think about what if you are buying something and the photo of that product shows that it's so good but the photo was edited to make the product look good won’t you be disappointed when you actually use the product? Something that people should do is to make that product the same as the ones in their photos so they don’t even need to edit their photos anymore.

Photoshop and photo editing should be banned from advertisement.

Photoshop should be banned for multiple different reasons. Especially for those women and teens out there who have low self esteem will lower it even more because of what they see on those advertisements. When women see those “ Beautiful girls” on those billboards or even just on commercials all their thinking is why can’t we look like that why can’t we be skinny like that and it goes on and on. Also when people use photoshop and photo editing it can also cause mental health for example an eating disorder for they can look as pretty as those girls or guys they see on their tv’s. It can also lead to anxiety and sometimes maybe also depression as well. So in Conclusion photoshopping & photo editing should be banned from advertisement.

Should Photoshop be banned?

I do think it should be banned because sometimes a younger audience may be looking up to them. By a chance, the age group would or could be 11+. Most kids and teens scarves Themselves in order to look just like them. Imagine looking up to something and it’s not even true or real.
