The battle of Quebec took place on December 31 1775. The Colonial militia had planned to storm the city of Quebec on the brink of the new year during a raging snowstorm. The British had received word of their attack from Benedict Arnold who betrayed the Colonials, so they British army was posted up and ready for their attack. General Montgomery lead the charge into battle and was hit by the first canon fire of the battle, a grapeshot artillery shell which was effectively the cannon equivalent of a shotgun shell. On of the balls hit Montgomery straight through the head and wounded many of the man standing near him, the Colonials failed to take the city of Quebec and lost 50 men, 34 wounded, and 431 captured.
