The ʻohana were encouraged to gather kinolau that called to them and they shared why the collected them. These were then incorporated into a lei for the piko of this wahi pana. Some of the kinolau were: limu, kupukupu, lāʻī, kō, milo, ʻulu, squash, lauaʻe and others! The ʻohana talked story and reflected about Who is your ʻohana? Where did they come from, their wahi pana? How did you name your child? The keiki enthusiastically jumped into this hana to collect these hakahaka sized stones to help eventually fill in the vacant spaces between the larger pōhaku. Kumu Kamala likened these pōhauku hakahaka to the keiki in the ʻohana as often they are the connections and ties within ʻohana.
