I was born in West Islip a town in Long Island, NY. My family shortly after moved 25 minutes west to Seaford, a small town in Nassau County. My parents Lisa and Peter who are both raised in Queens, NY had an adjustment living in such a small town. At 3 months old, I developed a rare blood deficiency called urticaria pigmentosa. Physically I looked like I had chicken pox until the end of middle school. That was only one of many differences I exhibited compared to the Irish Protestant demographic of all the other students. As a Jewish- Italian student, with many physical differences childhood became a unique experience.

On February 13, 2012, my sister and I celebrated our Binot Mitzvah (a shared Bat Mitzvah) at the North Shore synagogue. The events leading up to this moment were quite interesting. My sister and I were the only Jewish students who attended our middle school during this time. My mom immediately received many phone calls from friends parents asking, "what actually is a bat mitzvah?" Kids were taking about the event asking more questions than a person could count.

In 2016, I began my journey and college education at Molloy College. Originally, I was not supposed to attend Molloy but, PACE University in Manhattan. My family financially wasn't in a place to help me so last minute (3 days before classes) Molloy welcomed me with open arms. I was not planning on becoming an education major either. I wanted to be a counselor and work in a hospital with pediatric patients. But, out of nowhere I told the young lady working in academic affairs, I wanted to become a special education teacher. After a year of classes at Molloy, I entered into the 5 year accelerated Masters program. I was able to study critical issues, multicultural education, and many other courses to deliver the base knowledge for implementation of practices in my classroom. In 2021, I was able to graduate with a BA/MA is adolescent education, social studies, and special education.

In 2021, I was hired for my first teaching job in a middle school in Queens. I taught ICT ELA for 6th and 7th graders. Being a first year teacher at the end of a global pandemic was extremely difficult to adjust to. Realizing the damage the pandemic had on our students city wide was a shock. Born and raised in my Seaford bubble, seeing how students were stuck in an apartment for 2 years was saddening. But, this motivated me to try my best and work hard not only being a teacher but as a confidant. Working for the families and students who needed the support at the end of this long pandemic kickstarted the future for being a community service member.

This school is completely different than where I was prior. This school has extracurricular activities and enrichment programs the students can participate in throughout the day. The change in schools has created a huge transition period in my life once again but, I am excited to gain more knowledge for the future.
