I enjoyed how he defined musical elements that I really did not know existed. They were very thorough explanations and provided a broad insight on how those elements worked not just in music but in life as well.  My favorite aspects of this book was that he incorporated all genres of music, not just one genre but many. Also I found the titles off all the chapters to be quite interesting and simple. And the chapters were very detailed and contained a lot of great information regarding many musical aspects. Ratliff revolutionizes the way we listen to music in today's age. He doesn't just write what you want to hear, he writes what is needed. He gives us his book that edge that sets it apart from many other music books I know. I know listen to music hearing the different elements that Ratliff described in his book. I listen more in depth which help me connect more and more with the music I listen to.
