So, a chalkboard has been used among all three of my interviewees. 
My first interviewee was born in 1950; meaning they went to high school in the 1960’s. The chalkboard was really the only educational technology that they had in this time period (other than a typewriter). In this time, a chalkboard was an extremely important part of learning because it provided visuals for all students to learn from. This answer remained the same between my other two interviewees; they agreed that the chalkboard was, and still is, a useful piece of technology for both students and educators. According to all three of my interviewees, the only downside was the effort that it took to use the chalk on the chalkboard. It was also extremely loud and messy. Luckily, there have been new technological advances that allow educators to provide the same benefits as the chalkboard, but without the chalkboard’s downsides. My first interviewee, who went to school in the 1960’s, got to use a typewriter in classes like English and Reading. The version of the typewriter that they had was very simple; this typewriter only typed in capital letters and left no room for error. The typewriter that my second interviewee, who went to school in the 1980’s, got to use was a bit more advanced. This typewriter allowed you to use both capital and lowercase letters. This interviewee said that they did not use the typewriter as much as some of the other available options for this time. Though, the interviewee did have to take a class for the typewriter because, at this time, computers were only started being introduced, so the typewriter was still a common technological tool. My third interviewee, who went to school in the late 1990’s, said that by this time, they had rarely used typewriters anymore. Computers were becoming more and more common, that it, somewhat, pushed away the use of typewriters. My first interviewee stated that the typewriter was their favorite piece of technology for their time. So, my first interviewee did not get to experience the benefits that computers have for us in education. According to my other two interviewees, computers became an important part of their educational life, very quickly. Both my second and third interviewees had a similar experience regarding computers in education. They both had to attend computer classes so that they could learn the value a computer holds in education. From there, they learned that computers can be used for things like, organizing, typing papers, and my second interviewees favorite thing, games. Though, my other interviewees did get to experience it. They said that having a big, visual of whatever worksheet that they were working on was probably one of the most helpful pieces of technology that they had in their school years. The computer web in today’s world gives us an infinite amount of information to provide us with almost anything that we need to thrive in an educational environment. We can even talk to other students or educators online, using this web, to exchange tips with people from all over the world. The internet/web, today, provides resources to change our education for the better. They all agreed that these technological advances were of big help at times, but at the end of the day, they all agreed that they would survive if they did not have these pieces of technology from when they were in school. They said that they enjoyed the benefits their education endured from chalkboards, typewriters, computers, calculators, etc., but the extant that they used these technologies were so small, that they could live without it. But, they all agreed that technology has only gotten better and is more beneficial than ever for our education.
