The setting takes place in Seattle which they go to a basketball game in the Seattle Sonics stadium. I would say that this setting is important because it looks like in this story, people there must really like basketball.

Theme

The theme in the book “Night Hoops” is if you like to do things that YOU want to do, don’t let other people tell what you should do because that what THEY want to do. I think this because in the book, Nick’s dad tries to force Scott to play basketball when he likes to play instruments (which is part of the main reason why his mom and dad got a divorce) and Scott argues about which he now lets him do what he wants.

One conflict in this story is that Nick’s mom and dad are divorced because they always argue but when this parents see each other he always gets upset every time they argue. Because of this, Nick never gets to see his dad often. Another conflict in this book is the constant bullying from Trevor and his brother Zack. They keep bullying him everyday they see each other like one time they almost drowned him some sort of slime at a park.
