CHAPTER ONE。

Despite being born in the House of Khangarid, Zephyr was often overlooked and bullied in his youth. He is the only child of retired Skyguard Major Ezyrion Khangarid and Artimys Cylestii who was from a long forgotten, non-noble artisan family — and thus, was treated with only half the respect people think he deserved, if any.

As a halfling, he was always last among the other Khangarid-born children, always compared to someone else and was the only one ridiculed for his shortcomings. His father was a harsh man who believed that coddling his son would make him soft and worthless in the field, so he was often absent from Zephyr's life and paid very little attention to him. His mother, on the other hand, was gentle and loving, a nurturing presence that Zephyr often relied on in times when the world only sought to break him. Where mother was — there was warmth.

But given his already compromised status, Zephyr's father was determined not to raise a weakling in fear that the rest of the family would laugh at him, and sent him off to be trained in the ways of the military at a very young age. Eager for approval, Zephyr had shed blood, sweat, and tears for thousands of grueling days to earn himself a spot in the Skyrider Division as one of its youngest members — but even with the skills he had earned, he was still considered the runt of the bunch, and was always left behind to care for the mounts while the rest flew out without him.

Reduced to nothing but a mere bird watcher, Zephyr spent most of his Skyrider days alone with his two favorite Goliaths, 'Cloudpiercer' and 'Frostbite'. He trained and flew alone, but grew incredibly strong bonds with the two in the time they spent together. After closely observing the creatures of air, Zephyr managed to improve his Aeromancy without human guidance, building a special connection with it that none of his peers seemed to have.

But even with his current accomplishments, he was still seen as nothing but a joke. All people could see in him was his impure bloodline and nothing else. He worked hard yet was paid with silence, beaten until he was bruised, and left out to perish in the snow each time. No one ever spoke for him. No one asked if he was doing fine. No one cared.

However, no matter how much he'd endured, Zephyr's last straw came in the form of Frostbite's death. He hadn't been there when it happened, but grief swiftly claimed him when he discovered his beloved mount had been attacked by another Goliath, his body then discarded from the high cliffs of the mountain solely because no one could identify who the mount belonged to — or maybe they all knew, and still chose to do it anyway.

That same day, Zephyr left his post behind without saying a word, leaving nothing but his uniform neatly folded in his quarters. He had packed his bags and disappeared from his unit like the fleeting wind. No anger, no outburst, just silence. If anyone had noticed, they probably had not cared enough to find out, or were glad that they'd successfully rid of him.

Back at home, his father was furious at his arrival, his mother silent as he raged. Ezyrion beat him where he stood, called him a fool, and refused to take him back in, throwing his only son out into the streets until he could prove himself worthy of returning home.

Zephyr never did.

Ω — ANG PANANDALIANG AMIHAN
+ taken

m/f, any age, aersahir — any family (khangarid preferred but not necessary), platonic.

Zephyr was an elusive man. Like the wind, he comes and goes, gone before you realize, not a single trace left behind. You've hired him a few times to deliver letters and trinkets for you, and both of you believed that would be the end of it each time. But you found yourself rather intrigued by the mysterious wanderer — a man of few words, hides his face beneath his hat, and claims he carried the name of a family no one longer remembers. Whenever you two met, you felt a spark of familiarity, but cannot quite pinpoint what it was about him that seemed so familiar. And despite your careful attempts to keep him around, he always finds a way to disappear before you could dig deeper. But your curiosity knows no bounds, the more you recall his face, the more familiar he seems — like perhaps you've seen him before in his younger years. Whoever he really was, you were determined to find out.

CHAPTER TWO。

After being banished from his own home, Zephyr found himself wandering the outskirts, closer to the harsher cold of the wilderness. He'd initially sought out the snowstorms to get lost in them and die, but while passing through the Typher camps, he came across a wise old man named Aumahn, an exiled scholar.

The old man offered him room in his tent and some tea that had been boiled over the fire. He quickly learned that Zephyr had been sent away from home, and decided to take him under his wing. Though the old man did not have any luxury to offer, he was brimming with knowledge from his days in the academy, and eventually became the one to teach Zephyr stormbinding.

He was a patient and gentle mentor, never raising his voice nor his hand. Zephyr's already remarkable elemental ability bloomed under his careful guidance, his control honed to a fine edge with hours of discipline and mental clarity.

Though he'd only known him for a short time, Zephyr considered Aumahn as family, almost like a second father of sorts. But even that didn't last long, as Aumahn was eventually discovered teaching Windcraft to commoners, and was swiftly taken away afterwards. When Zephyr returned to Typh, Aumahn's tent had been dismantled, his campfire snuffed out, and he never saw the old man again.

Given his age, it was likely he hadn't survived the stress of his capture. Zephyr's anger simmered at the thought, mind filled with a sudden thirst for vengeance. But Zephyr knew he couldn't let his emotions override his rationality — he was taught discipline, not chaos. Knowing Aumahn, the old man would have discouraged him from going after his captors, lest he brought more shame to his family name by making a ruckus — not that he really cared for their reputation anyway.

Alone once again, Zephyr buried what was left of Aumahn's belongings in the snow beneath a pomegranate tree. He knelt at the roots for hours before uttering his last goodbye, offering a word of gratitude, and a windchime bloom already halfway through its life.

When the mourning was over, Zephyr disappeared into the snowstorm. Not to die, but to seek his next path in life.

CHAPTER THREE。

It is unknown what has happened to Ezyrion Khangarid's son.

After kicking him out of their home, he had yet to return to them nor make his presence known. Like the wind, he disappeared without a trace, his name now only spoken in whispers among gossiping family members.

"Maybe he's already dead," says one. "Maybe he has moved to another nation," says another. Rumors sparked and spread like wildfire, telling the story of a rebellious son who ran away from home because he was abused, unloved, and unworthy. Many pointed their fingers at Ezyrion, because no one believed that quiet and gentle Artimys was capable of harming her own son — though she was not of noble blood, her heart surely was.

Ezyrion vehemently rejected the rumors, but the damage had been done to his reputation. Now seen as a ruthless father, many family members treaded carefully around him in fear they would suffer the same wrath as his son did.

But one snowy day, Zephyr returned home — not for Khangarid, not for Ezyrion, but to see his dear mother.

The last time they'd seen him, Zephyr had only just turned eighteen. Now here he was, standing before his parents three years later, once a weak boy that had grown into a strong, independent man. Zephyr had grown taller, towering over both his parents. His shoulders had gotten broad from training, his arms muscled with hard work, and somewhere deep inside him hummed a powerful energy that hadn't been there before.

While his mother ran to embrace him, Ezyrion simply stared at him from where he stood, trying to understand his own emotions before he spoke. But instead of happiness or joy, he meets his son's observing eyes with disdain. When Zephyr revealed he had abandoned everything to become a wanderer, Ezyrion erupted in fury once more.

But this time he could no longer beat his own son, Zephyr held his arm in place with an unwavering firmness, only putting enough force to defend himself. He did not come with intentions to hurt his father, nor did he come to ridicule him for the way he was raised. He had only returned home to tell his mother of his whereabouts, his direction in life, and what he'd be doing going forward. Whether Ezyrion accepted that or not was his own problem.

Though his name remained in the family tree, Zephyr was seldom seen with the Khangarids after that day. Whenever he returned, he would visit in silence, veiled by shadow, only to greet his mother before disappearing with the wind once more.

Much like the winds that flowed through the mountains, Zephyr moved swiftly and quietly, never staying in one place for too long. No one really knows what he does when he stays, and even then, he's gone before anyone can question him.

He wanders the world with a carefree soul, his heart free from worry. He lets the breeze speak to him occasionally, and follows wherever it blows.

ADDITIONAL FACTS。

— 01. POWERS

He is adept at two types of Windcraft magic, specifically Aeromancy and Stormbinding, with a remarkable affinity for manipulating lightning. However, he rarely uses great bursts of lightning for offense due to the amount of energy it would cost him and the grave injuries that would follow soon after if used too much — much preferring to use it for more mundane things such as starting a fire out in the wilderness or zapping patterns into a surface. Although, he is not beyond using it in smaller, more controlled strikes to defend himself or threaten people if necessary.

— 02. NON-HUMAN BONDS

He is particularly fond of a certain Vallynx named 'Snowdrop' — she was just a cub when he rescued her, and they've formed a close-knit bond ever since. He also shares an equally strong bond with an Imperial-winged Goliath named 'Cloudpiercer' who he had tamed in the military at the age of sixteen. Despite having left the life of a Skyrider behind him, Cloudpiercer noticed his absence and had somehow discovered his whereabouts. Every now and then, Cloudpiercer flies out to accompany him, seemingly guided to him by an invisible string.

— 03. THE CONICAL HAT

(refer to chara aesthetics)

Zephyr often wears a black conical hat wherever he goes. Though simple and unassuming, the hat has been tampered with by his mentor and has been infused with lightning energy. When manipulated, it becomes a rapidly spinning disc that can be used to cut through objects or be used as a weapon. This type of manipulation is less taxing on the wielder, but the hat's power is limited by range and can only work within a certain distance from its user.

— 04. CULTIVATION

Every once in a while, Zephyr retreats to the snowy mountains to meditate. His mentor had once taught him how to channel magic energy for healing, for warmth, and for calming the mind, training his body to endure harsh conditions by subjecting himself to the icy snowstorms of the wilderness. He emerges from these meditation sessions significantly recharged, less lethargic, and more resilient than before.

ABOUT FAMILY。

° EZYRION KHANGARID

Zephyr's father. A retired Skyguard Major. Brother of Viczar Khangarid.

A man with a hot temper and a heart hardened by battle, Ezyrion is not the greatest of fathers. Though unbothered by his wife's non-noble status, he's seemingly obsessed with trying to prove his son's worth because of the fact that he's a halfling. He favors other children, praises their accomplishments, rewards them, but is incapable of doing the same for his own child. Determined to make a military man out of Zephyr, Ezyrion believes his love must be stern and cold, but all it seems to have done is drive his son further and further away from him.

° ARTIMYS CYLESTII

Zephyr's mother. A retired Windglass Jeweler from the long forgotten, non-noble artisan family of Cylestii.

It is unknown what had compelled Ezyrion to marry a commoner. Some say he was bewitched, fed a love potion of sorts — but Artimys had never done such things, in fact, she was incapable of them. She was a quiet and gentle woman who worked long days and even longer nights, seldom leaving her workstation if not to feed herself. No one knows how she came across Ezyrion, but it is said that her husband still keeps the windglass pendant she made for him when they first met. Despite the way Ezyrion had changed over the years, Artimys' love for him remains steadfast. Currently, her only wish was for her husband to reflect the love she gave him to their son — or at the very least, find it in his heart to accept him.

° NAME HERE

Relationship here.

Ω — KUNG SAAN TAHIMIK ANG HANGIN
+ available

m/f, any age, any kingdom — any family.

It's not often that Zephyr receives a request to end someone's life. He's seen his fair share of questionable jobs plenty of times before, but nothing quite matches the feeling of having to actually assassinate a person. It's not that he enjoyed doing such a thing, but it's not like he disliked it either — a job was a job after all, and he was only doing this to get paid at the end of the day. He cared not for his targets nor for his employer's motives as long as they rewarded him for his efforts. Then, he'd disappear once more, gone with the wind. Efficient and silent. You want to hire him, but word is that Zephyr is incredibly elusive and hard to get in touch with — he never offers his name in the blackmarket, so the only way to speak to him is to meet him by chance. So how exactly do you plan to chase the wind when the wind itself is so silent?

You happened upon him once in the wilderness, simply using his abilities to set up camp as if it were any regular day. As someone who was used to seeing lightning being summoned in terrifying, wild bolts, you were more intrigued by his precision and careful control, unaware that something as destructive as lightning could even be used for such mundane things. Eager to learn, illegal as it was, you approached him quietly with a request to learn — much to an unassuming Zephyr's confusion.
