         <title>Artist 1: Pacita Abad</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Pacita Abad was born on October 5th, 1946, Basco, Batanes, Philippines. She is a daughter of a congressman, Jorge Abad. </p><p><br/></p><p>She started her journey in arts when she was in Washington, Dc. There she trains her first formal art training at the Corcoran School of Art.</p><p><br/></p><p>Pacita Abad became known internationally through her travels from various countries as a powerful source of inspiration. As well as her abstract work from the said sources.</p><p><br/></p><p>Her famous work is the "Trapuntos", Quilted paintings made by stitching and stuffing her canvases.</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

         <title>Artist 2: Napoleon Abueva</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Napoleon Abueva was born on January 26, 1930, in Tagbilaran, Bohol. His parents are Teodoro Abueva, a Bohol congressman and Purification Veloso, president of the Women’s Auxiliary Service. </p><p><br/></p><p>Napoleon Abueva was a home-grown talent. Throughout his journey he got into countless university through the means of scholarship. Starting from the UP to Harvard. </p><p><br/></p><p>He helped shape the local sculpture scene in the Philippines. Being adept in both academic representational style and modern abstract, he has utilized almost all kinds of materials from hard wood to adobe, metal, stainless steel, cement, marble, bronze, iron, alabaster, coral and brass. </p><p><br/></p><p>Through his talented work, he was awarded the status of National Artist of the Philippines by President Ferdinand Marcos and became known as one of the most talented Filipino artists. </p><p><br/></p><p>His most known sculptures are the "Nine Muses", "The transfiguration", "Eternal Gardens Memorial Park, Sunburst", and the sculpture placed in his hometown, Bohol, "Blood compact".</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

         <title>Artist 3: Vicente Manansala</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Vicente Manansala was born on January 22, 1910, in San Roque, Macabebe, Pampanga. His parents are Perfecto Manansala and Engracia Silva. </p><p><br/></p><p>He started his art industry a year later after resigning from his job in a Manila Advertising Company and switched towards the staff of the Philippines Herald as an illustrator. He was married with Herminigilda and was blessed with a child. Not long after, war broke out, Vicente has no choice but to fled with his family to Cavite. Through the times of war, he supported his family by fishing and doing portraits in exchange for four gantas of rice or eight gantas of palay.</p><p><br/></p><p>After war, Vicente created post card size portraits of American soldiers, after working as an illustrator, he became a staff artist in Ramon Publication and Evening News.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then after his time abroad, Manansala joined prestigious local and international exhibitions where his works won<br>awards and prizes. Among the numerous awards he received were the UP Outstanding Alumni Award, 1957; Republic Cultural Heritage Award, 1963, and the Araw ng Maynila Patnubay ng Kalinangan Award, 1970. </p><p><br/></p><p>On August 27, 1981, shortly after his death, the government conferred on him the National Artist Award for Visual Arts.</p><p><br/></p><p>His most famous artwork known is the "Madonna of the Slums". This piece of art shows on how skillful Manansala is in doing the form "Transparent Cubism". In this piece, he depicted the Virgin Mary with a baby Jesus surrounded by the impoverished people of Manila.</p>]]></description>
