This schedule board serves the purpose of showing students both visually and with the use of text. What their schedule is, and what the activities look like. The teachers and staff use this board to help promote the correlation of the pictures to the words next to them, and use pictures of the students actually doing these tasks. As opposed to stock images, this makes the correlation easier and more personal.

This area is filled from head to toe with posters and other forms of labels that promote literacy. The point of these labels is to help students identify the letters that make up the words of their toys. Children are also curious when things are on the wall. It grabs their attention; therefore, this is a good way to use that intuition as a way to further understanding.

(Full disclosure, this picture is A.I. generated, as throughout the week, I was not able to create the environment in my classroom that I had envisioned for this assignment due to receiving a new student and not being able to get the classroom stable enough to do so.)

I think this picture gets across what I want to see from the students, a few things I would add are on the wall. Add laminated sheets with Velcro attachment points, and allow students to match the colored shoe to the color (word) on the wall. When the station is not actively being used, the shoes should be displayed with the corresponding color. As a way to condition the student to understand that the color matches the word. There can also be some very comfortable furniture present, and a copy of the book should also be present. I chose this book because I feel like it's emphasis on colors, as well as its story about Pete staying happy and not letting his shoes getting ruined, ruin his day. So not only do I believe it is promoting colors, but it also promotes some good coping skills that the staff member can express to the student.

This creative arts area works really well in a print-rich environment, and is an area I would recommend modeling classrooms after. It may not seem like a lot, but having words attached to these areas is very effective. I recommend labeling everything. I would even label the different available items here. I think labeling the markers, paintbrushes, cotton balls, scissors, and all of those items. It is important to help further promote the idea of reading and the importance of words.
