I still remember the time when I made a terrible mistake which almost cost my life. I always cycle to school as that is the fastest way to get to school. I did not like to jostle my way through a crowded bus. On that day, I had an important examination. When I was about to get my bicycle, my dad shouted at me, "Tim, the brakes on the bicycle are faulty, do not ride the bicycle today!" I was shocked to hear that as I was just using it yesterday. I tried stepping on the brake and my father was right. The left brake was not working. At that point of time, questions mushroomed in my head, "Should I or Should I not?" I looked around to check if my father was still around. he had already left for work. I decided to go against his words. I sat on my bicycle and quickly rushed out as I had 30 minutes left before the start of my examinations. I enjoyed the wind blowing on my face as I cycled down the path to school. There was a downhill slope that I enjoyed picking up speed whenever I pass it. The fact the left brake was not working slipped my mind. I picked up speed and rode downhill. I stepped on the brake while trying to come to a halt. That was when I remembered that the left brake was not working. I crashed into a big tree. Thankfully, I was wearing a helmet. I stood there in disbelief as I saw the different parts of my bicycle shattered into pieces. If only I had heeded my father's advice, this would have happened. I quickly rushed to school leaving my bicycle there. When I reached school, my teacher looked at me and scolded me harshly. Apparently, I was late and the examination was over. I wanted to explain to my teacher but I was just speechless for a moment.
I realised that this was the greatest mistake that could have cost my life. I escaped unhurt but it taught me a painful lesson. I should always listen to my parents.

Koshan - actions before you passed the paper to Faris

I remember it like yesterday. I told myself not to do such a mistake ever again .I was in Primary four at that time. Faris,my friend was with me all the time.
Our teacher, Mdm Rose was giving out the consent form for the Primary four camp. We needed to get our parent’s signature on it so that we can go for the camp. When i was leaving the classroom, I remembered that I had to submit an art piece for an Art contest. “How can I forget that?” I questioned myself. I told Faris that I totally forgot about the art piece and it was already the last day. I was panicking. Faris suggested that I quickly draw something at that time. I did not even have the drawing paper with me. Just as I was thinking what to do next, I remembered that I had a paper in my pocket. I thought I was lucky to at least have that paper. Not wanting anyone to notice that I was such a last monute worker, I went to the toilet and started drawing on the paper.
Once I was done, I gave the paper to my friend Faris. He looked at it and smirked. Of course, it was not the most perfect piece of work. Just as I was leaving Faris asked me, "Hey, why are there words on the drawing". I replied, “Probably it was there already. What matters now is to just submit it". Then Faris and I parted ways .
When I reached home, I realised that the consent form that Mdm rose gave us was the paper I had drawn on. I was nervous thinking that i will never make it to the camp . I should have thought twice when Faris asked why there were words on the paper.
The next day, Mdm rose asked us to submit the form. Everyone submitted the form except for me. I told Mdm Rose what happened. She scolded me for making such a mistake. As a consequence, I was not allowed to go for the camp.

I remember a mistake that I had made before and I had risked my life. I normally stay at home every weekend. I do not like to go out with my parents. I prefer being with my siblings, my older brother and younger sister. My mom and dad left to go to the mall. “ Kids, we will be home at 9pm.” Mother told my brother.“I promise we won’t create any problem at all.” My brother was in charge of us.
1 hour later, “ I’m so bored what can I do in this house? ” I mumbled to myself. “ I have an idea! ” I exposed myself. Little sister looked at me and asked at the same time, “ What idea? Can we watch some programme on the television together instead? ” I walked over to the television stand and tried looking for the remote control. “ Hmm, the remote control is not here. Where could it be? ” I asked my sister. “ Awww, please look for it. I want to watch my favourite programme!”. “ What’s the problem guys” my brother asked. “ We can’t find the remote control for the television.” we replied in unison. My brother told us to stop looking for the remote control. He suggested that we go outdoors instead. My sister and I beamed with happiness on hearing that.
We went out outside to play at the playground without our parents’ knowledge. I decided to play far far away. As I was playing on my own, I did not know that I had walked too far from where my brother and sister were. I looked at the time. It had been two hours since I strayed off. I realised that I was lost. I stood in the middle of a road. I stood there for about two seconds and a lady grabbed my hand to get out of there. Just then a car zoomed past me at high speed. I stood there speechless. What would have happened if the lady did not grab me? I cannot imagine. “Little girl? Are you alright? Don’t stand there! the Lady asked me. “ Yes.. i’m okay.. but I don’t know where my siblings are!”
The lady accompanied me to look for my siblings. It ws not long when we saw my parents. They were looking frantically for me. I ran towards my mom and dad and tears rolled down from my eyes. Fortunately, my brother and sister were safe too. My parents thanked the lady for her help.
From that day onwards, I never went on the road alone ever again. I could have lost my life because of this silly mistake.

I still remember the time when i made a mistake. It was a terrible mistake that I regretted. it was something that almost cost me my life.

It was a sunny day. My mother told me to take the bus to school as she thought I would be late for my ‘SAT’ examinations. I replied, ”No, I always arrive early, it’s basically impossible to be late when I ride my bicycle to school”. I was full of confidence. My mother told me that it will be safer if I take the bus. As usual, I was adamant and refused to listen to my mum.

I left my house and rode my bicycle to school. On the way to school, I enjoyed the scenery as I rode past the park. Suddenly I heard a hissing sound. I wondered, “Is it a snake?” The sound seemed to be coming from beneath me - my bicycle. I looked down and saw that it was my tyre losing air.
It appears that a pin had punctured it. I started slowing down and lost my balance to the point where I fell down on the hard concrete ground. I was screaming in pain as blood was gushing out profusely. I regretted not listening to my mom to take the bus.

I called her and said I needed help to pick me up.She reprimanded me because she knew i would be late for the ‘SAT’ examination. My mom forgave me and picked me up. She dressed my wounds quickly and we took a taxi down to school. Thank goodnes I was not late to my exam. I really have to thank my mother for picking me up. I should always listen to my mum. I should not have made the mistake of riding my bicycle to school for an important examination.

I still remember the time when I made a terrible mistake. I went to school and I saw that the tables were separated in class. I asked my friend Sally, “Why are the tables separated? What’s happening?” Sally responded, “Maybe because we are taking a Science exam? Ms Jasminr told us about it months ago. Have you forgotten?” I was too stunned to speak. I was in a state confusion, knowing that I had not been paying attention during class if not i would have known.
Time had passed and it was ten minutes before the examination. I was anxious and worried not knowing what topics will be tested. The teacher came to my table and gave me the exam paper. I had not studied and was not ready. I tried to steal a glance at my friend’s paper but failed. After an hour of stress, Ms Jasmine collected our papers and I felt a pit at the bottom of my stomach.
The next day, I went to school and my teacher returned the exam paper. I got 23/100 for my science paper. I was devastated, I had never gotten such low marks in my life. When I returned home, I decided to forge my parent’s signature so they would not know about my marks. I gave the test paper to Ms Jasmine and she immediately shouted, “This isn’t your parent’s signature, you forged it!” I knew I was in hot soup. I totally forgot that Ms Jasmine knows how each parent’s signature looked like. I did a terrible mistake and it was too late to regret now. I cried when my teacher called my mom. I was so scared thinking about what she was capable of.
My mother came to school and reprimanded me to behave and not forge signatures as it could get me suspended. I immediately apologised to my teacher and parents and told them my actual marks.
If only I had paid attention during lesson, all these would not have happened.

I remember the mistake so vividly as if it happened today. The mistake caused my team to lose the match. If only I had thought for a second, we would have won the game.

It was the season of the national tournaments. I was a key player in my school’s football team. All my team members looked up to me. I had won many awards from being the ‘man of the match’ to being the top scorer. Many of them respect me for the skills. Having won many matches, I was confident that we were going to win that quarter final match. We were all in high spirits as we entered the pitch. The game began with the blow of the whistle. It was a tough game as the opponents were very strong. We were equalising. We needed one goal to win the game. I was very intent on winning. My team member passed the ball to me. I heard my coach shouting at me to pass the ball to another teammate but I ignored him. My coach knew that the teammate was closer to the goal post and he would be able to score. I wanted to take the shot at the goal as I knew I would definitely score. I kicked the ball hard and I watched as it went towards the goal post. Unfortunately, it hit the pole and bounced out of the pitch. If I had scored that goal, we could have taken the lead but it was a disappointing miss by me. At the end of the game, we lost by 1 point.
If I had scored that goal, we could have gone through to the semi-final for the first time in Unity Primary School’s history.I was disappointed in myself. If only I had listened to my coach and passed the ball to my teammate, we could have scored. I was grateful that my teammates and coaches told me that everyone makes mistake so it is normal.

“What time is it?” my friend, Jamie asked me as I was walking into the classroom. I ignored her and told her to ask somebody else as I was not in the mood to talk anyone that day. My mother had just scolded me for breaking a vase before I left for school. I was very upset as it was not even my fault and I was scolded for nothing. It was my baby brother who had knocked into it and it toppled over. My mother was not willing to listen to my explanations so I decided to let it slide. "How can she be so unfair?" the thought kept coming to my mind.
I was just seated there oblivious to whatever was going on around me. After a while, I remembered that I needed to be at the canteen for my recess duty. I wanted to check the time and that was when I realized that my watch was missing. I was panicky and decided to check my bag but it was not there. I traced my footsteps back to the school hall hoping to find the watch but to no avail. I was really stressed and I wondered what my mother would say. "Will there be a second round of scolding? Will my mother decide to cane me for losing an expensive watch?" All these frightening thoughts started dashing across my mind.
When school was over, I quickly rushed home to see if my watch was there but was not there. I tried hard to recall where I could have left it. Thinking that I may have left the watch on a train, I went to the train station to check with officer there. He mentioned that someome had passed a watch to the counter earlier. While the officer went to retrieve the watch, I was praying hard that it was mine. The officer showed me the watch and to my delight, it was indeed mine. I heaved a sigh of relief thinking how I has escaped the scolding from my mother.
I thanked the officer. I was walking away from the counter when I saw my father at the station. He seemed to have been observing me for long. I decided to tell him the truth. He chided me and told me that I was lucky to have found the watch.
He told me not to be careless and not make such a mistake again.

I still remember the time when I made a very terrible mistake which got my mother mad and worried about me. When school is over, I like to hang around with my friends at the playground or at the 'seven eleven' store.

One day after school, I was at the playground after buying food and drinks at 'seven eleven; store. I was playing with my friends, Mamat, Ferra and Narin. We were playing 'hide and seek', 'the floor is lava', 'role playing' and more. We were so engrossed in playing the games that we did not realise the time. It was already 8:15p.m. I sensed a very bad feeling deep down. Thoughts of my mother screaming at me frightened me. I decided to go back home once she was asleep. My friends decided to do the same as well. We continued playing the games. Soon, we forgot about going home. When it was almost 10p.m., we were exhausted and knew that it was time to head home. I knew my mother will be asleep already. I would escape the nagging.

When I got home, I saw a police car at the carpark. It must be the boys being a public nuisance by making a lot of noise at the void deck. The police officers were always after them. I took the lift up to my flat and to my horror, I saw police officers outside my flat. My mother was still awake and she was talking to the police officers looking very worried. My mother saw me and yelled at me. Apparently, she had called the police when I did not go home on time. She was worried as there are kidnappers around Yew Tee area. The police officers questioned me and left after they giving me a verbal warning. My mother continued scolding me. I was traumatised by her deep voice so I just ran and took a shower.
My mother was still at it even I came out from my shower. As I retired to bed, I reflected how I had made my mother so worried. After school the following day, I wanted to hang out again but I realised how my mother scolded me so i went home quickly. I told Mamat, Ferra and Narin what happened, they apologised for not being good friends and a good role model towards me. We decided not to do the same mistake again.

When i got home my mother was already waiting for me, she told me that she would finally stop nagging at me if I go home early. I was happy as I did not have to get nagged at.

I still remember the time I made a mistake which almost cost my life. My mum told me to get some groceries from the nearby shop. My mum told me to walk to the store but I told her I will ride to the store instead. My mum warned me that the ground will be slippery as the rain had just stopped. I turned a deaf ear to what my mum said. I rushed out with my bicycle before my mum could continue her nagging. I cycled down the street to get to the store. Well, the ground was indeed slippery but I was an expert rider so the ground was no challenge to me.
While going down a slope the bike went too fast and suddenly my brake stopped working. I tried with all my strength to come to a stop but I was unable to do so.
Before I knew it, I was going downhill at a very fast speed. My eyes widened in shock as I started approaching a rock. I knew I was going to hit it. "Bang!" the sound of my bicycle hitting the rock echoed through the air. I flew from my bicycle and landed on a grass patch. Fortunately, I was wearing a helmet and arm guards, if not i would have sustained more serious injuries. I had just scraped my knee and there was blood oozing out. I looked at my bicycle in disbelief.
My shiny bicyle was also shattered into pieces. I was almost in tears as it was a precious gift from my late grandmother. I should have heeded my mother's advice. This mistake could have easily cost me my life.

There was one incident that I could never forget that would haunt my life forever.
It was a Saturday afternoon and I had my religious class as usual. I sat at my usual spot and unpacked my stuff for lesson. I had nothing to do while waiting for the other students to come so I decided to look for something to do since I was really bored. At the corner of my eye, I saw something shiny. It was a blue transparent toy. I took it and decided to play with it.

I examined it and I soon realised that it was a toy insect and I could scare my friends with it. I looked left and right to find someone to tease.
I saw my friend, Adam entering the classroom. “Aha, just the right person to play a prank!” I smirked. Adam waved to me and I responded, “Hi, Adam!” Adam took his seat. I decided to spring into action. I placed the toy insect in his bag and zipped it up. He did not notice me. Slowly, people started streaming in. They started to get ready for the lesson. Adam bent down to open his bag to get his books.
“Ahhhhhhh, Noooo!” Adam screamed and fell off his chair. I wanted to burst out laughing but what I saw next stopped me from doing so. Adam lay on the floor motionless. He had fainted. At that time, the teacher walked in and saw the commotion. She asked everyone to disperse and started tapping on Adam. Slowly, Adam opened his eyes. I heaved a sigh of relief. I decided to own up to my mistake when the teacher questioned the class about the toy insect.
The teacher said that I was lucky that Adam was not seriously injured. My mistake could have easily cost someone’s life.

I still remember the time i made a terrible mistake which almost made me get sn earful from my mother. It was a bright monday morning. I was on my way to school but my bag felt lighter than ever. My mum must have organised my books for me. My bag was always a mess and my mother would always nag at me to organise my stuff. I usually ignore her and get on with my activities. “I have better things to do, mum.” I would always mumble. Sometimes my mum would just give up and organise my stuff for me. The fact that the bag is light today must be my mother’s work. I guess I should count myself lucky and when to school as per normal.

When i got to school, I sat at my seat and wanted to take my book out from my bag. My jaw dropped when I saw that there was nothing in my bag. “Where were my books? My bag was empty!” I let out a loud scream. Everyone turned to look at me. I did not have any books for that day. I had to submit an important project that day. I tried to explain to my teacher but she would not listen. Marks were deducted for my project. I was so upset as I had spent a lot of timr and effort on the project. The teachers chided me for being irresponsible. It was definitely a mistake that I could have avoided. I assumed that my mother would have packed my bag for me.

After school ended, i told my mom about it. She told me that I had learnt my lesson the hard way and I should be more responsible. I decided to more organised from that day onwards.

I still remember a mistake which almost cost me my life. I was with my friend, Faiqah. We were at the Yew Tee Park. It was raining cats and dogs. Though it was raining, we decided to go to the slide. We love playing in the rain so that day was just perfect.
When we were up on the slide, it looked very scary and very wet. It was a very long winding slide. Faiqah asked me to go down the slide first. “Are you ready?” Faiqah asked me. Once I was ready, I signalled to her and pushed myself down the slide. Since it was raining, I slid down very fast.I did not even know that I would slide down so fast. Suddenly, I lost control and flew off from the slide. I could see Faiqah standing rooted to the ground. Luckily, i landed on my back on a grass patch. Faiqah was shocked. My pants were wet and I was groaning in pain. My back was very painful.
Faiqah quickly came over to me and helped me up. She regretted asking me to go down the slide even though it was slippery. She apologised to me. I told her it was also my mistake. I should have known how it dangerous it is. I was limping all the way home. I was lucky to have escaped being seriously injured.
When I got home, my mother asked me why I was limping. I recounted the whole incident to her. She told me not to make such a mistake again. She brought me to the doctor to ensure that the injury was nothing serious.

Aqib - feelings after you lost the bag, thoughts as you watched your friends play soccer

It was a Friday morning. Every Friday, I usually have CCA so I have to bring along my soccer boots. To lighten the load of my school bag, I usually carry my soccer boots in another sports bag. I trudged along to the bus stop to wait for the bus. Well, it was the usual crowd that I saw in the bus stop - students, office workers and parents waiting with their children. After what seemed like eternity, the bus arrived.
I was lucky to get a seat on the bus. I started my usual routine of using my phone because there was nothing else that could keep occupied. As the bus stopped at every bus stop, it seemed to be getting crowded. It was quite a long ride to school but thankfully I had my phone to occupy me. Once in a while, I looked up to check where I was just in case I miss my stop.
When the bus stopped at the school bus stop, i quickly kept my phone away and tapped my EZ-Link card to alight from the bus. I met my friend at the bus stop and we walked towards the school gate together. I was walking into my when I realised that I have forgotten something and it turned out to be my sports bag. "How careless can I get? How can I make such a mistake?" I mumbled to myself. I knew I must have left it on the bus. It was too late for me to go back to the bus interchange as school had already started. During CCA, I had to sit at the side as I did not have my soccer boots. While I was seated there, I started worrying about what my mother would say. The soccer boots was a gift from my mother as she had presented it to me for winning the soccer tournament last year. I was thinking how I was going to face my mother. I decided not to tell her anything.
After school that day, I went to the bus interchange to check. The man at the counter said that he would inform me if the bag was found. The next few days, I waited in anticipation hoping that someone would call me about my soccer bag. I had a match that day and I still did not have my boots. On that same day, I received a call from the bus interchange that my boots had been found. I was jumping for joy. Somehow, my mum also got to know about it. I was shocked as I thought I had hidden the truth from her.
When I got home that day, I got a harsh scolding from her. She warned me not to commit this mistake again. I learnt my lesson and told myself not to be make such a mistake.

I still remember a terrible mistake which almost cost me my life.I always walked to school. As usual I walked to school on that day. It started raining and I did not have an umbrella. I had an examination so I cannot be late.“Should I run to school or stay in thr shelter till the rain stops?” I mumbled to myself.I decided to run to school. When I arrived at school,I was all drenched to my feet.I did not care because I was rushing for the examination on that day. When I arrived in the classroom, I noticed my classmates were all drenched too. It was still early so the teacher was not there yet. When the teacher finally entered, she was shocked that most of the students were all drenched to the feet.
“When are we going to have the Exams?” One of the studens asked.
“Exam?” The teacher asked in confusion.
“Yea,Our exam.. WAIT DO WE EVEN HAVE EXAMS!?” I asked in shock.
“It is not today, it is next week.” The teacher said.
We were all shocked at the same time we were shivering. Our teacher contacted the staff members to see if there is anything that they could find to warm us. Sadly, there was nothing that they could find to warm us up. They gave us some towels to wipe ourselves dry. When I went home that day, I had caught a cold and I was down with high fever. I was unconscious for a while. The doctor said that it could be due to the fact that I was drenched. It took me a week to recover.
If only I knew that there was no examination that day, I would not have run to school. If only I had listened carefully to the teacher. It was a mistake that I could have avoided. I should also remember to have my umbrella at all times.

Arielle - use of thoughts when your father told you not to take the bicyle, after the incident

I still remember the time when I made a terrible mistake which almost ruined my life. I would always be the first one in school as I ride the bicycle. It was the most convenient way for me.
On that fateful day, I had a important examination. When I was about to leave for school, my dad told me, “Arielle, the bicycle brake is not working properly, I don’t think it's safe for you to ride it!” I was shocked to hear the news as I had not encountered any issues with the bicycle so far. I tried getting the bicycle to start and my dad was right, the left brake was working. At that time, many questions dashed through my head.

Should I just ride it or not?
What will happen to me?
Will I be okay?

I looked around to see if my father was still there. He had already left for work. I decided to just ride it to school because I only had fifteen minutes left before the examination. I took the usual route to school. I enjoyed the scenery as I rode past many trees. Of course, at that time time I forgot that I only had fifteen minutes left. I decided to ride faster as I enjoyed the thrill of riding at high speeds especially when riding downhill. I saw a huge rock and that was when I had a flashback of my dad saying the left brake was not working. Before I could react, "Crash!", the bicycle hit the rock and I fell onto the grass patch. I was lucky that I was wearing a helmet and I was not injured badly. My bicycle was shattered into pieces. "If only I had heeded my father's advice, this would not have happened." I blamed myself for the unfortunate incident. I could not go for the examination as it was already too late.
My father was furious when I told what had happened. He told me not to make such mistakes again.

I still remember the time when I made a terrible mistake which almost cost my life.
It was a Monday afternoon, and I was going back home from school. Before I left school, I waved "goodbye" to my teacher and friends. Since I was starving, I decided to go to the '7-eleven' store to grab some snacks and drinks. After that, I went outside and sat on a bench to eat my snacks. After I had finished my snacks, I walked to the bus stop and waited for the bus. Within a minute, the bus arrived and I boarded the bus. I always love sitting on the upper deck so I made my way upstairs. It was empty. I had the whole deck to myself. I placed my bag on one seat and sat at the back. I enjoyed the journey playing games on my phone. After an hour, I finally reached interchange. I had to get another bus that goes to my house.
Suddenly, I realised that I did not feel anything heavy on my back. It was then that I realised that I had left my bag on the bus. I was worried and alighted at the first stop. I ran as fast as my legs could carry me to the interchange. I went to the office and asked an officer, "Have you seen my school bag? It is black and has a symbol of a puma on it." He said that there was no such bag found. I was so worried and walked around the interchange aimlessly hoping someone would have returned my bag. I went back home in tears wondering what my mother will say not realising that i did not have my bag with me.
The next day, I went to school empty-handed as I did not have books or stationery with me. My mum chided me for losing my bag and she said that she will not buy me another bag. I had to use my savings to buy one. I walked to class feeling down. "Tadwin, Tadwin, is this your bag?" I heard someone calling out my name. I turned behind and saw my classmate holding on to my bag. I was surprised. My classmate had found my bag on the bus. I was so grateful to my classmate. At the same time, I promised not make such a mistake again.

When I was young, I remembered that I made a terrible mistake which almost me cost my life . During the December holidays, I got a gift on my birthday which was from my father. “ Marie here’s your birthday present that you have been wanting for months, “ my father said.

“Wait is it?” as I thought in my head, when I opened the gift .I was lost for words. My father had bought me a new watch that was expensive. “ Thank you dad for buying me this. I will wear this every day even in school.

On the first day of school as a primary three student, I got ready for school. I waited patiently for my mom to take pictures of me before school. After that, I headed to school and suddenly saw my friends and told them what I got on my birthday, “ Guys, look what I got on my birthday. I got the watch that I wanted for so long!” I commented proudly. “ Whoah that’s a cool and pretty watch” my friends said with a tinge of jealousy. My friends and I went to our classroom. After our lesson on reflecting about the previous year, it was time for recess. After eating, my friends and I quickly ran to the playground and played. While playing, I felt something loose around my wrist but I was too engrossed in playing and did not care.
After school, when I was reaching home, I wanted to check the time. I was shocked as my watch was gone. I was scared because it was expensive and my dad will scold me. I was already near my home so I had to go and tell my parents what had happened.

With a sad face, I went to my dad, “Sorry but I lost my watch that you gave on my birthday “
He replied with angrily, “ WHAT! When? How? Where is it? You know that was expensive, how can you you lose that?” dad asked. “ I don’t knoe when I lost it. I only realised when I was reaching home already. I know it was expensive, Dad. I’m sorry. I will find it tomorrow “ I said with tears in my eyes. “Make sure you find it!”dad shouted.

The next morning, in school I told my friends what happen . After lesson it was time for recess my friends agree to help me find my watch . My friends and I asked almost All teachers , we ask the staff in the general office and more then suddenly I remember that we were playing at the playground I felt lose on my wrist and realised it was my watch so I quickly told my friends that’s we should fine it n the playground. During the searching my friend found my watch “ Marie this is your watch right?” My friend said , “ OMG thank you so much”. After school I reach home happily with my watch and I told my dad , DAD! my friends helped me find my watch” I said , “ Good, be careful tomorrow”.
