I study in a big university, and the existence of a great diversity is never in question here.

Through my learnings today, I am reminded of love.

As a student leader who has miles and miles of things to do in my everyday task checklist, it is inevitable to at times lose patience and experience burnout with my social battery at 0%.

However, through this lesson, I am reminded of why I do this in the first place. Because I love what I'm doing, and I love who I'm doing it for.

Now more than ever, I am reminded to always culture the love I have for all the people around me. And this is the number 1 key that helps me embrace the diversity in my community in each day.

I had been out of Sudan for years, when I came back I saw a lot of things had changed and the gaps between people became bigger than yesterday. I knew the religious tolerance only in the papers and lips and I start by myself to practice it.

I have realized that building bridges combine people together which means we should build more bridges to be close to eachothers and that we should stop building walls and break them . I also have been using dialogue as a means of communication in the family and between friends. This communication works effectively at eradicating any misinterpretation in a certain behavior or a word being said. Communication with no prejudice, based on selfless love have changed my life and made me more understanding to the points of views of others. I try to delve deeper into learning who they are with the goal of forming a friendship that can last despite where we both come from. "Living Peace International" is an international volunteering group that gathers youths from different continents around the world. Such initiatives can link you up with other people around the world 🌏. Also, in your society or community, you should get yourself involved in any social activities and at your school or workplace as well.

But in school, I was able to learn how to be diverse and accept the concept of diversity. With this, now that I am somehow older, I can say that I have embraced diversity basing from my friends and to the people I talk to, in which we have different backgrounds, characteristics, personality, culture, gender, color, age, religion, opinions, beliefs, and all our other differences. With this session, I learned that in embracing diversity, we must know how to respect one another and accept that we can be one despite not being the same. This would lead us towards peace.

Embracing diversity can be seen in our daily life. My family showed me that our age doesn’t inhibit us to have an understanding and loving environment. Moreover, my friends taught me that despite having different characteristics, we were able to get along and accept each other. Lastly, being in my community helped me accept various opinions and widen my perception in life.

In our everyday lives, we get to interact with different walks of life, each with different stories to tell. So, we must learn to connect with one another rather than create divisions that hinder us from attaining peace.
