An interactive classroom discussion strategy where students engage in a debate or dialogue on a given topic. Students physically arrange chairs in two facing rows to represent opposing sides of an argument. They take turns presenting and defending their viewpoints, aiming to persuade others and possibly reconsider their own stance. This activity fosters critical thinking, communication skills, and empathy as students explore diverse perspectives on a subject.

Sarah Halpin - McLain Community HS My artifact was around building community and providing students with some structure social time - we do not have unstructured time due to the population we serve, however our students crave social interactions. I brought my seminar into another class and we had a Spoons card game tournament. It was incredibly successful in getting students to talk to each other and just be kids for a few minutes while not leaving them unstructured.

This is for both community building and engagement. The "circle" makes it more comfortable for students to shrare their writing. I use equity sticks to choose who reads. Once the finish, they can choose 3 students to either give a compliment, make a connection or ask a question. I do this 2 to 3 times a week and it has really encouraged all of my students to write more so they can participate.

Clara Mizenko - Summit Academy South Keeping the end goal in mind while being flexible in how you arrive there - this is the strategy I'm working on. I have 2 US History classes where we cover the same material, but one group is Grade 2-3 and the other is 4-6. So I'm having to adjust from one class to the other and I teach the older kids first. So that helps me asses the plan for the 2nd and 3rd graders based on what worked with the older students.
