The difference between a statutory and volunteer role is, statutory services are funded by the government. Some of the statutory services which were at this attack, were the metropolitan Police and the Ambulance service. Some of the voluntary services that would've been at Westminster is the Salvation Army. These three services would work together to get the are safe and secure again.

First the incident was the armed police, which isn't unusual as they have the quickest vehicles. What the armed Police tried to do was to keep the Terrorist contained in one area without causing any harm to themselves or the surrounding area. Then there was just the standard constables, who went around the surrounding are vacating the nearby houses and clearing people off the streets. Then finally the traffic police cornered off the surrounding streets, to stop any traffic from getting into the area.

The public services that responded to this attack all worked amazingly together. The police where in charge of keeping the terrorist at bay and trying to contain him, whilst the fire service blocked off most of the road leading into the area of danger with some help from the traffic police. The Ambulance service were taking care of the injured and the fire service helped them by trying to get one casualty out of the water. They all worked really well in order to get all of the civilians out of the area and treat the ones who needed it.

The Police mainly used two units, the traffic police and the armed police. The police used the traffic police to close off any roads leading to Westminster. They done this to prevent any other attack from happening as well as to protect the public from potentially putting themselves in danger as well. I think that this was the best option they could've went for as not only does it contain the situation at hand it also prevents any further attacks and stops the public from being in harms way, so I think this is a very good strategy. The police also used the armed police, these officers were the most in danger than any other. They had to try and contain the terrorist as well as keeping themselves at a safe distance. They are also the same unit that shot the terrorist on the parliament square, after a police officer was stabbed and unfortunately died.

During the Westminster attack, the terrorist mounted the curb and a lady fell into the river Thames. The fire service where there to use the rescue boats to try and fish her out of the river. They also aided the Traffic Police in blocking wider roads to prevent further attacks.

The Fire Service where responsible for helping the police in blocking off the surrounding roads and also using their rescue boats to help a women who fell into the river Thames. I don't think this was the idea because the fire service don't really specialise in river rescue, that would be up to the RNLI but for acting in the moment I think it was a good call of judgement.
