In this watercolor landscape, I created a sunset scene with mountains and a lake. I used warm reds and oranges for the sky to capture the vibrant glow of the sunset, transitioning into cool blues and purples in the water to suggest depth and reflection.

For the mountains, I layered colors using the glazing technique to build depth and create an atmospheric perspective, making the mountains in the background appear lighter and more distant. I used a combination of wet-on-wet and dry brush techniques to add texture to the mountain peaks.

The lake reflects the mountains and the sunset sky. I used the wet-on-wet technique to blend the water’s reflections, ensuring smooth transitions between the colors. To add detail and movement to the water, I applied a lifting technique with a tissue to create the effect of ripples.
