पीरियड से जुड़े बहुत सारे भ्रम समाज में हैं। जिसका खामियाजा महिलाओं को भुगतना पड़ता है। महिलाओं की इसी समस्या को दूर करने और लोगों में जागरूकता के लिए विभिन्न अभियान चलाए जा रहे हैंजिसका उद्देश्य world menstrual hygiene day पर पीरियड से जुड़े भ्रम और शर्म को दूर करना है। क्योंकि समाज में आज भी महिलाओं के जीवन चक्र से जुड़े इतने महत्वपूर्ण विषय पर बात करने में लोगों को झिझक महसूस होती है। आज भी महिलाएं अपने माहवारी से जुड़ी दिक्कतों और परेशानियों को खुलकर साझा नहीं कर सकतीं। जिसका नतीजा उनकी खराब सेहत के रूप में सामने आता है। इस चैलेंज को शुरू करने का उद्देशय है कि महिलाओं के इस मुद्दे पर खुलकर बोला जाए। और लोगों को बताया जाए कि पीरियड्स के दौरान ऐसे पैड का इस्तेमाल किया जाए जो बायो ग्रेडेबल हो। महिलाओं को मैंस्ट्रुअल कप को इस्तेमाल करने के बारे में जानकारी देना। क्योंकि आज भी बहुत सारे देशों में और भारत में महिलाएं पीरियड के दिनों में पैड तक इस्तेमाल करने के लिए नहीं पाती है। इसलिए जरूरत है कि लोगों को खुलकर इस बारे में बात करनी चाहिए ताकि महिलाओं को ये सारी जरूरत की चीजें आसानी से मुहैया हो सकें और यह एक दैनिक जीवन का हिस्सा है इसमें हम सबको नारियों को सम्मान की दृष्टि से देखना चाहिए और मदत करना चाहिए

Menstruation, or getting your period, is a normal and healthy part of life for most women. However, it’s still stigmatized in many places, including the US.  Some girls and women feel embarrassed or ashamed when they have to address their periods. It can even cause some people to avoid certain activities and miss out on important experiences. That’s why menstruation awareness and events like National Period Day on October 10th are so important. Menstruation awareness is something of a recent phenomenon on a national stage. While women have been working to make hygiene products accessible and erase stigmas for a long time, only recently has it been making public waves. Menstruation awareness emphasizes making hygiene products available to those who need them, but it has other facets as well.Another really important issue menstruation awareness helps with is educating young people about their periods and feminine hygiene. Because of the stigmas we talked about earlier, some girls may not want to talk to their parents or guardians about their periods. If they hear the facts from reliable sources, they will not have good information to follow, the mystery surrounding periods will go away. 
Normalizing open conversations about menstruation will help girls learn about the different feminine hygiene products available to them and how to properly use them. According to Unicef, poor menstrual hygiene can pose physical health risks and has been linked to reproductive and urinary tract infections. Creating awareness and openness is one of the most effective ways to help teach girls how to properly manage their menstrual hygiene.
