This cyclone formed on the 26 January 2011 and ended on the 3 February 2011Cyclone Yasi formed for a number of reasons. High water temperatures developed near the equator and moved through Papua New Guinea as small winds and light rain. As it moved through the Coral Sea it became stronger. The rains coming at a south-westward direction to Australia were heavy and continued throughout. Cyclone Yasi destroyed banana crops in Northern Queensland, so the price of bananas increased as did the demand. It also supplies around 20% of Australia's sugar cane, which also were damaged by the cyclone. Cyclone Yasi affected areas near the Great Barrier Reef, so the cyclone took a toll on tourism. Environmental Impacts:
This cyclone damaged many inhabited areas. It passed over the Great Barrier Reef causing damage to some areas. The storm washed unhealthy chemicals and debris into the ocean.
