ear buds could improve in signifiers, specifically bluetooth connected ones. most of the time they have a green light turned on when connected but it can be frustrating when they connect to multiple different devices when you are simply trying to connect them to your phone.

phone cases

phone cases have plenty of affordances, they afford to protect the phone from falling. they also afford to fit different aesthetics and have add on features that a user may like.

tennis shoes

they afford to be worn and used on feet. they have plenty of signifiers such as strings that signify they can be tied to fit tighter or looser.

water bottle

a signifier is the way the cap looks, it determines how the water bottle would open. it could simply have a screw off cap, or could have a push button feature, or a squeeze the bottle type of lid.

hairtie

the way we use hair ties is familiar to most users, therefore for mental models we have an expectation for how the hair tie should function and what features certain users enjoy.

from observations, most users wear when it is sunny outside. peoples behaviors relate to the designs affordances in that a hat affords blockage from the sun. a signifier that it goes above your head is the size and shape of the hat.

for mental model, the designer created glasses for users to enhance and improve their vision while prioritizing comfort and aesthetics. with other factors such as cost, fit, etc.

claw clip

the claw clip was designed as a way that it affords to hold your hair. the main signifier it has is the opening and closing clasp, which signifies it opens to put on hair and closes to stay put. for the gulf of execution, designers wanted an easy yet effective and stylish way for users to do their hair. yet it leaves a gulf of execution where sometimes the quality is lacking and they break easily.
